Hey guys. I'm 22 and am about to start a regimen for my hair loss which is pretty much only noticeable around my vertex where it in the early stages of thinning. (pictures below) The rest of my hair is very thick.

I would like to know what to start on.

I know that minoxidil is supposedly a lot more effective on the crown area and in the UK, one of my GP's recommended Regaine Foam 5%.

I have also spoken about Finasertide with a dermatologist who mentioned that many of his patients had at least maintained their hair on it.

At this stage, I would like some advice on what to start with. Some people have said both but then if something changes, I won't be able to ascertain what treatment is doing it. However, I am aware that the studies do show that they are very effective when used together especially.

Would using minoxidil 5% for 4 months on my crown and then analysing the improvements be a best first line treatment?

Or should I just use finasteride 1mg a day for a year, and then judge whether it is worth the hassle of applying minoxidil twice a day for the foreseeable future?

finasteride hits the root problem, if you respond and get regrowth from it your regimen is 10x easier then applying minoxidil once/twice a day. However if you use both you will probably see results faster.

Your hairloss is minimal, I say see where finasteride gets first.
