Starting... quitting... then restarting finasteride

I just couldn't help seeing my temples disappear I'm basically a NW2 diffuse so I called up the Doctor and he agreed to re-prescribe finasteride.

I started finasteride 1.25 mg when I was 18 years old it seemed to be working pretty good but at 4 months I got sides I basically could not get an erection at all. Even morning wood was gone. So I quit. Now at 21 years old I'm getting back on.

My question has to do with this graph. Since I stopped finasteride at 18 and am restarting at 21, is it impossible to experience regrowth? Is my baseline at 18 years old or is it restarted at 21?

Well at the time I was 18 years old. 3 months into taking finasteride I lost my virginity and was having regular sex with my then girlfriend. At the time I was very nervous about sex since she was experienced and older than me and I was young. Plus I was taking 1.25 mg finasteride instead of the recommended 1 mg because it was easier to cut it that way. I'll try to cut the pill this time to .75 or .5.

To be honest I cannot deal with losing my hair right now I'm 21 years old FFS I'd rather just lose the erection and my gf because to be honest she's not the one for me.

If you continue to have significant side effects with the finasteride, one of those "other options" could be Proxiphen (a prescription medication) or Prox-N (an OTC version of Proxiphen). The doctor who created them is both an MD and a PhD, and has made the claim that Proxiphen is "unquestionably more effective than Propecia alone". I have no reason to doubt his honesty or medical judgement! The only problem is that Proxiphen isn't cheap (the OTC version is more reasonably priced), but then neither are some of the other things you hear about on hairloss forums, like RU58841 or CB-03-01. Proxiphen and Prox-N are topicals that don't have any systemic side effects to speak of, if only you can afford them. Consider them as possible things to try, if you just can't make do with the finasteride.

Yes. Something like at least a dozen or so separate ingredients, some of which are those "turbocharged" SODs exclusively associated with Dr. Proctor (TEMPO/TEMPOL and PBN).

Thanks. I'm going to give finasteride another try since I was immature back then and quit after about 3 bad sexual experiences with one girl that I wasn't crazy about.

I wouldn't expect any noticeable change from dropping from 1.25 mg to 1 mg. That's about like removing 1 extra bucket of water from the Gulf of Mexico!

Alright, good luck then. It takes 2 weeks from the last pill, to your hormone levels are supposed to be normal, so your Doctor is wrong about that too.

Alright, good luck then. It takes 2 weeks from the last pill, to your hormone levels are supposed to be normal, so your Doctor is wrong about that too.

I see you're most active in the "Dealing with Side Effects" subforum. That guy hairflow is complaining of permanent "brainfog" and "headaches" long after quitting the drug. Couldn't it be that his medical condition has nothing to do with finasteride and everything to do with his migraine problem?

Believe what you want man, but if you seriously think your General Practitioner is the best source of information on finasteride then you're being outrageously wreckless.. There are doctors 100x more qualified than your doctor who would disagree with him, so seriously - exercise a little bit more rational thinking and look at both sides of what's out there.

Whatever is your decision from that is your decision and you live with it. Simples. Just don't be shocked if your doctor was wrong (he is).

Go to the success stories and tell your story sections and see how many guys are taking finasteride and not having sides.

sides exist but they do seem to get blown out of proportion the fact is finasteride is the most effective proven treatment we have. The small minority who do get sides seem to shout the loudest.
