Erectile dysfunction, impotence, low libido and gynecomestica and these syptoms don't stop when the treatment stops, they are with you for life.

Absolute bollocks.

A good product which I would recommend if you are in to natural products is nourkrin, It has a really effective combination of tablets and shampoos aswell as many others. Its endorsed by celebs including Lee Sharpe who uses it also.

It doesn't work.

Yeah, I have never known anyone who had irreversible side effects from finasteride.

Truth is, if that was a widely understood malady, it simply wouldn't have lasted on the market for this long.

Very few users experience sides and those that do usually reverse on their own.

Overall, I think a very small percentage of users must discontinue treatment, especially considering you can lower the dose (.5 mg a day) and get something like 80% of the benefit if you do have sides at 1 mg.

Propecia (Finasteride) is a well known product that is recommended by doctors and should only be bought through prescription, but in my opinion there are better products available that are much more effective. As I said in my previous post many people are different and the testesterone to DHT transformation in some people is more than in others, so therefore Propecia can be more effective depending on the person using it. The side effects are proven to be true after continuous use of propecia in some people.

With regards to the Nourkrin which is also dependant on the person using it is FDA approved and research has been carried out between 1000 Nourkrin users, the results showed:

62.5% of users saw an improvement in their hair after 2 months
70% of users saw an improvement in their hair after 6 months
88% of users saw an improvement in their hair after 12 months

The effectiveness of products are determined by what symptoms of hair loss you are suffering from and whether or not the product is right for you. That's why it is recommended you go see a doctor first hand who will then refer you too a specialist.

There is no better FDA-approved product. Since the basic cause of male pattern hair loss is DHT interaction with androgen receptors, products that don't effect either of these agents can have no long term efficacy against male pattern baldness.

Check the clinical literature, not anecdotes on the net.

Most of the studies on Nourkrin were small scale, short duration, and did not meet the 'gold standard' of being randomised, double blind, placebo-controlled trials. Some claim results so superior to minoxidil and dutasteride, that they are totally implausible. Bottom line, the ingredients are basically 'marine-based' proteins and polysaccharides, vitamin C and silica. Highly unlikely to effect major reductions in DHT levels, lol. There are plenty of other threads on the forum about Nourkrin and Viviscal.

Don't even argue with this guy. He's obviously spamming for Nourkrin and will be banned soon.

As I said before products differ for the type of hair loss you have. Nourkrin is for the thinning of the hair and not male pattern baldness, so it should only be used for problems like this. I recommended it as a natural product not a DHT Inhibitor and if you are fighting male pattern baldness you shouldn't really be using Nourkrin.

I don't know if you have used this or not but with you saying that it doesnt work i take it you have. No wonder it didnt work  . For male pattern baldness i would recommend a product like provillus which I think is better for people who are suffering from male pattern baldness.

Guys. I don't want this to turn into a war thread.

I'm simply asking how Nizoral is benficial considering they're known for antiendruf shampoo. So, I'm asking rick055 if he personally actually used it and find it beneficial?

The active ingredient in Nizoral is ketoconazole. Ketoconazole is an antifungal, BUT:

"The side-effects of ketoconazole are sometimes used to treat non-fungal problems. The decrease in testosterone caused by the drug makes it useful for treating prostate cancer and for preventing post-operative erections[1] following penile surgery."

As such, it is believed to be a topical antiandrogen.

I have used the 1% OTC shampoo and now I use Revita which contains ketoconazole, among other things.

For me it's difficult to isolate whether it works to decrease hair loss because I take other things. I use it in rotation with finasteride. I take 1.25 mg finasteride EOD and alternate Revita EOD.

I do believe it works. At the very least, it makes my hair thicker.

Sorry to be picky, but where did you quote that from?
Also, since you use Revita, how come you suggested Nizoral?

The quote is from wikipedia, but if you do your research (google ketoconazole + hair loss/anti-androgen, etc...) you will find a lot of information on it.

I suggested Nizoral because it's what I started out with and way cheaper than Revita (Revita contains ketoconazole, among other things). If you can afford Revita, I say go for it. Nizoral can dry your hair out a little, I don't have that problem with Revita. It also contains many things which (anecdotally) help hair loss, like copper peptides. But I use it simply because it contains 1% keto and leaves my hair nicer than plain nizoral.

I am like you - a natural skeptic when it comes to hair loss solutions. But in my opinion, the "big three" all have merit: propecia, minoxidil and nizoral. You have to shampoo your hair anywyas, and generic OTC Nizoral isn't hat expensive, so at the very least, it can't hurt.

Thanks

How often do one uses Nizroal?
I take a shower at night and one in the morning. Should I Nizoral both times?

I think it's recommended to use Nizoral only a few days a week primarily because using it more often can dry out your hair.

I would use it three times a week to start and see how it goes. If you can tolerate it, go to EOD then maybe daily.

I found that I could use the 1% OTC Nizoral 4 - 5 times a week.

I would not use it twice a day.

I suppose I should start with 1% OTC since their easy to get and use 3-4 times a week.

Based on the reading, seems like people have shedding even first time use of Nizroal. Is that normal even on a shampoo? should i worry if I do?

What's EOD?

rogaine, minoxidil are highly over-rated... Remember before you start that you must apply the rogaine forever to maintain any growth you might see. IMO I didn't see any growth, but my hair thinned slower for a period of about 6 months. However, once I stopped I shed like my cat for almost 4 months. Worst 4 months of my life.

Give the propecia some time.

You have to take any of the treatments forever.
