started foam today. quick question

I seemed to get it into my scalp pretty well but i got a lot on my hair too, im applying it to the temples, hairline and working it back to my crown, hair gets pretty saturated with the foam while i do it, is this normal or should i try to apply it differently?

what i do is: part the hair then apply a small nugget of foam, smear, repeat the process. That way i can get the foam to stay on the scalp not the hair.
