Hello everyone! I've been following this board for a long time. I decided to go ahead and make an account because i'll be taking the next step to my journey in gaining my hair back.
This is my story:
Age 23
Well, I've always had a wicked widows peak and hairline(hence my screen name). A few years ago I notice that i was losing more hair in the shower but I was somewhat in denial that i was going bald. My brother is bald, my father is bald, and my mother was adopted so i don't know much about her family history. A year later I decided to look at the top of my head and BAM! I noticed that i could see my scalp on the crown of my head. It was thinning really bad and it really freaked me out. I started to become very depressed and shaved my head to see if i could rock the bald look pretty good & ended up disappointed wondering why i shaved my head. I went and bought nizoral 1% and that stopped alot of the shedding. I apply it 3 times a week for about 5 minutes.
As of right now i'm trying to find a doctor that will prescribe me finasteride. I'm having alot of trouble finding a doctor that does hair loss consultation. The first place I called was a hair transplant doctor in my area and tried getting an appointment with him. I told him that i wasn't interested in a hair-transplant just yet...i just need a damn prescription. He said "All we do is plant new hair and they grow, finasteride is a load of crap". That kinda made me lose a little hope but then i keep referring back to these boards and the success stories I've read about. So, i'm gonna make an appointment to my family doctor to see if he can prescribe or refer me to a good dermatologist. I really hope to get on finasteride by the end of this month...but it seems like the doctors are afraid of writing a prescription because of the side-effects that some patience have. Well, I just wanted to get my story started. I will keep everyone up-to-date. I will post pictures when i receive my regiment. Wish me luck!
