I wast wondering if these two medicines would interact/effect each other? anyone know?

I've taken them both together before and didn't notice anything unusual. That stuff seems to work quite well for mild depression, although it takes a couple weeks to kick in.

did you take them at the same time or at different times of the day?

Another supplement, that is supposedly good for the blues is SAM-E but it is very expensive.

Any brand/type of st. johns you recommend beaner? or anyone else?

The St John's Wort I took recommended a dosage of 2 pills 3 times a day so at least one of my doses fell around the same time I took finasteride, although maybe not at the exact same moment. The brand is an inexpensive brand picked up at a local store...Spring Valley brand from Walmart. From what I've seen of prices, though, SJW is relatively cheap so any old brand should be ok. The one I use claims it is the same dosage used in research studies and contained 300mg SJW standardized to contain .3% hypericum

I've never heard of SAM-E, I'll have to look that up. I really believe this stuff is a good alternative to meds if you have mild to moderate depression.

how long did it take for it to kick in?

The reason i ask about its interaction with finasteride..is b/c it affects a certain hormone that supposedly speeds up the absorbtion of certain meds and decrasese their efficacy...it kinda works in the OPPOSITE manner of grape fruit juice....I wasnt sure if it affected finasteride tho...

Anyone else?

I would say I felt positive effects within a week to ten days of starting it, meaning the depressive episodes were coming on less and milder. Within 3 weeks or so, I had the last depressive episode and haven't had one since, except perhaps a mild twinge now and again usually brought on by alcohol. This could be a placebo effect for all I know, I don't want to say that SJW is better than meds because I really don't know. If it is a placebo effect, then the human mind is truly powerful.

do you still take it?

Yes, I still take it and I'm still not depressed. There's a poster named Chrome on HLH who swears by the stuff as well. Google it, I've found mostly good info on it, although you'll always find a study saying a natural treatment doesn't work simply because no one can really profit on it. SJW is prescribed in Europe for mild to moderate depression, and based on my own experience, I'll give it a "thumbs up."

I took it with finasteride during a rough spell and I personally had no issue nor could I find any interactions and I tried to find info regarding the two combined, nothing.

if you have a girlfriend, let her know that st johns wort can mitigate the effectiveness of birth control, lest you have lots of HTGT's running around sooner than you'd like.
