spironolactone or Revivogen

I'm thinking of quitting finasteride owing to sides and replacing it with a topical.
Out of spironolactone and Revivogen, which is the most effective? Right now I'd be happy to maintain what I've got (I'm not looking for any significant regrowth).

Has anyone had genuine results from either spironolactone or Revivogen and what are the side-effects associated with them (hopefully nothing like finasteride sides)?

Thing is, they're different. Revivogen works mostly by reducing DHT and 5ar, spironolactone works by binding to the androgen receptors so that DHT can't bind.

Additionally, Eucapil works by attacking the receptors! lol :)

So, I dunno man, it's hard to say which would be most effective, it seems to vary individual to individual to a rather large extent.

Thanks Hoppi
From what you say, there is the potential for side-effects with Revivogen, but not with spironolactone.

Anyone use both together on their scalp?

There is probably a risk of side effects with anything, although the vast majority of people will see none. I would rate spironolactone as more effective than revivogen (through personal use), however topical S5 cream gave me sides (gyno). I might well be the only person who has experienced this as everybody (including studies) say that it is not absorbed systemically, but theree was absolutely nothing else that could have caused it and I applied the S5 sparingly. I think it is the most effective topical treatment I have used for reducing inflammation and thickening hair (not sure about regrowing but then all my follicles seem to be producing hair just too many miniaturized ones), but then that just might be for me and my own particular hairloss. One thing I've learned is we are all different and what works for one is not always going to work for another.

I also got sides on spironolactone. Sexual sides. I cant use it for more than a few days before they overwhealm me. Which is odd because its not supposed to cause sides.

I didn't realise spironolactone could give you sides. G K has your gyno gone now? How long did it take for you to realise you had it? Were your sides comparable to the sides from finasteride? I can't believe more men don't get gyno from finasteride.

Hey Hairforever, actually I was the one who said I got gyno. After one month off it is starting to resolve itself. I read somewhere that drug induced gyno often resolves itself once the drug has been stopped, so hopefully that is the what's happening and it will disappear entirely. In my case it was a combination of extremely sensitive, tingly and hard nipples with an increase in fat in the tissue as well which was beginning to give my pecs a very full, breast like appearance. Now there is no unnatural sensation under my nipples and basically they are just a little puffy but shrinking.

Like GK things for me started off fine but within a few weeks it was like the spironolactone was just overwhelming my system. Too bad as I found it very effective for my scalp almost immediately.

In my mind topicals are almost certainly absorbed to some degree. I used a ridiculously small amount of S5 and yet in a few weeks was still dealing with sysemic sides. I think that people using it are probably getting systemic absorption as well but perhaps are not as sensitive to it and so not seeing sides. I am willing to bet that a before and after (2-3 months) blood test for things like T and E2 etc would reveal a systemic effect to some degree. For most it is probably less risky than finasteride. For me clearly it wasn't.

Thanks for the detail garnett, I hope things return to normal for you. I had bad sides from minoxidil so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it's possible to get sides from spironolactone - I just thought it would be mild enough and localised enough not to present that possibility.

Maybe I should opt for Revivogen but I guess sides are possible with that too. I can cope with most sides but gyno is the worst - especially this time of the year!

When i apply spironolactone a bunch of hairs come with my hands after i message it and that doesn´t happen when i apply minoxidil.

Maybe i should be more gentle when applying spironolactone or perhaps my follicles are so weak that it takes a little push for them to fall off.
