spironolactone would be more effective and has better studies going for it. However, its convenience of use is relative to what kind of hair loss one is experiencing. If it's diffuse, it would be inconvenient to apply despite it being more effective. But if you can use both spironolactone + Revivogen together, I'd say those combined could be very powerful.

thanks for the reply RadioRaheem. Im a diffuse thinner and apply minoxidil twice a day and prox-n once a day. But if spironolactone will do the trick im willing to apply it twice a day. Revivogen sounds good because i could use it once a day. not to sure yet
any other suggestions? any one had sucess with either/both?

I'm using spironolactone 5% Cream right now (got it from wholesalehairproducts). It seems to be working fine for me, but I only apply it to my temples. However, I've only been using it for almost 1 month now. So it's a bit premature to say, although my temples is definitely filling back in. But my left temple is filling faster than my right temple. Anyhow, there are other topicals as well, such as Topical dutasteride. I heard good things about Prox-N as well. If you are using Prox-N, I definitely dont think you would even need Revivogen. spironolactone would be better in that case. But doesn't Prox-N have some spironolactone in it already?

I don't think there's any way to tell which is better. If I understand the studies on this site - and Bryan's explanation of them - the reasons are as follows (1) the tests on spironolactone and fatty acids involved one application to hamster flank organs per day and spironolactone degrades fairly quickly; and (2) the applications were to, well, hamster flank organs and not human heads.

There is also the problem of delivery vehicle and I don't know of any data that could help you there.

What may be better news is that I'm on my 10th month of revivogen and am more or less in the same place I was last year after a comparable amount of time using finasteride.

I agree with RadioRaheem that both together may be very good, or either alone plus a low dose of finasteride. The problem, as it always seems to me, is a lack of data.

I have been looking into these for a while, since I decided to get off finasteride. Seems the data shows spironolactone reduces scalp DHT on average 30%, I could not find data on Revivogen, but it seems that both of these used together should come very close to finasteride. Seems from this info, that Revivogen is at least as effective as spironolactone, plus the fact you only have to use it once daily, may make it more attractive over spironolactone.

RadioRaheem,

Left a message on the other thread, Genhair review, if you want to pick up one of the jars, it is no problem, the other 2 will last me for a while. Just let me know.

I'm sure the issue has been beaten to death, but how much reduction in scalp DHT do you get with finasteride?

Dr. Lee claims it's only 38% at 5 mg, but I don't know if he's talking about type I, type II, or both.

With spironolactone you need to use it twice a day, it is short acting. Instead of 12% minoxidil, perhaps you should try Rogaine foam, its probably more effective due to the high rate of absorption, and I am sure much neater too.

Goingat20, i dont know your history with dutasteride, but i would suggest dutasteride every day, the new spectral dnc twice per day, and if you can afford it throw proxiphen in there once at night.

This regimen was working so fast and effective for me, but the damn minoxidil was giving me a bloated face. I was also on an anti-estrogen called AIMF.

In all honesty if you dont respond to this regimen after giving it a year or so, then i would be really surprised.

It would be better to use Rogaine Foam since it's far easier to apply and it dries in a few minutes (literally). Also, it's the most effective form of minoxidil on the market as it has an 85% success rate.
