I'm 25 years old, I have a inborn high hairline, so I used to style my hair to cover my forehead. And when I was 22, I found I have less hair that I used to own which makes it harder to keep long forehead hair style. And I noticed that the hairline of 2 temple areas are higher (about 1 finger's width higher), but my mom said she noticed that when I was a teenager and has tons of hairs.
I'm not sure if my case is the male pattern, since only my father loses hair but that started in his 40s, his brothers and father do not have this problem. I found if I comb my hair to the back, and when I comb them to the front, I feel pain on the follicles (about 3 if I rate the pain from 1 to 10, not too much). I had a irregular daily schedule since college, sometimes I stay up very late playing and eat unhealthy food which may cause hair loss. Even now, I rarely get to sleep before 12, I think that need to be changed.
My situation now: I think my hairline did not change (not sure about the temple area), and I have less (60-70%) hair on the top. The only treatment I used is rogain, but now not I only apply it on temples. From 22 to 25, I think my hair did not go worse, but I not sure if it's better. I found this website, and I went through the treatment guideline, here are some of my questions:
1. Do I need to use to Nizoral Shampoo and Spironolactone cream, do they need prescription?
2. How is Finasteride? I'm afraid of it's side effect since I'm not yet a father and I would like to be one, and I heard some people say one need to use finasteride for a life time, can I just use it to reduce the DHT level on my scalp and gradually cease it, then used lifestyle, diet and maybe nutrition supplement to keep the DHT level low?
I will take some picture and upload later tonight. And thank you very much for your advice.
