Hi all,
Started on finasteride 0.5mg 2 weeks ago and have a couple of questions .

Is 0.5 enough for my hair loss. Will it be effective ? (Pictures attached )

How likely is it to halt or even improve my current situation?

Thanks

makes zero sense to be on this drug when it doesn't even look like you have hair loss

Your hair loss is minimal to be honest though maybe you don't even have any hair loss. Because your hair is longer it is normal to look like that. But if you think that you are losing your hair 0.5 mg would be good for now and then after a while go up to 1 mg. Though definitely ask your doctor about it I am just giving my opinion. Best of luck man!

I’ve checked your last post, where your hair was oily before posting this. But I’m my opinion you don’t show any signs of thinning. Your hair looks normal when parted, so I wouldn’t say you should have started finisteride at this stage. But it’s too late now

I just mean you’re on it now, or sounds like you’ve made the choice to commit. Good luck

Little update.

Just over 1 month taking 0.5mg finasteride. Still no change.
No sides & can’t be sure if I’m loosing more hair than before due to a shed but probably losing around 100 hairs a day .

I suppose I would be happy if I could keep my hair at this level for a few years . What do you guys think.

Also I’m unevenly cutting a 1mg tablet. Will that make any difference ?

Thanks

Yes it will make a little difference. If I were in you i would assume even 0.25 MG, one pill cut in 4 parts

Thanks for the reply . My hair is thick everywhere apart from that like coming off my crown. It’s so frustrating

Part of me thinks my hair has got worse since taking the drug around 6 weeks ago. Is this possible ?

Yes it's possible. A lot of people experience one of two sheds when starting the drug, usually on on the first-third month and then again on the sixth-ninth month. But don't worry, that means the drug is working and that your body it's getting rid of unhealthy hairs to replace them with thicker, healthier ones. You should stay on finasteride for at least one year to see if it's working well or not
