Some advice from my experience

I'm giving some quick advice from what I've learned over the last year or so. I've maintained my hair for a year, after beginning to lose my temples fast, with proxiphen and 5ar2 inhibitors. I've used the drugs very irresponsibly, but they've worked I believe. I'm currently on .5mg of finasteride, but i was on dutasteride once a week (for convenience and price basically) for a long while, and sometimes finasteride when I started to get worried about dutasteride. Hence my labelling of irreponsible use... one shouldn't switch around like this i believe.

I've had side effects - my nipples have become bigger, but nothing ever came of it. They were quite painful for very short periods of time, but no breasts ever developed. I had some discomfort/pain in my abdomen for quite a while, which led me to reduce dosage/swap around with drugs. Penis - completely fine. No acne or anything. Brain fog was most likely paranoia.

It's very liberating, not worrying about hairloss at all. So just use the treatments and forget about it, give them time. The point of my post is basically some things which have proven to be invaluable in the hair loss battle.

1) Neuroticism + male pattern baldness is the absolute worst combination. Confront and change this at all costs. Listen to other people, they will give you a more objective opinion. I can't stress this enough

2) Use nizoral, and follow with NANO shampoo, then a conditioner. Just leave your hair as it is, and let it dry. I make sure not to fuss around with my hair. It thickens my hair really well, makes it look top notch. I routinely get compliments on having nice hair after I have used this. Both should be useful in the hair loss battle. NANO is dirt cheap if you do it this way, as it lathers so well.

3) Listen to Bryan.
About a year ago when i started out, I decided to trust the advice of the person who the evidence suggested knew his stuff the most. What I learned from him, time has proven to be true. The current opinion of the majority of forum members at any one time cannot be used as a yardstick for what is correct. This isn't meant to be an "I love bryan" post, but reliable sources of information are needed, and Bryan is one of these.

4) Wear nice clothes. I've recently discovered that dressing nicely really impacts upon your appearance (wow, i'm a genius)

5) Use nano shampoo! It really is the cornerstone of my method of making my hair look nice. If i wash my hair this way, and put on a nice shirt, I will invariably get comments on being handsome. Probably due to an ensuing behavioural change as well, I'll admit, but the effect is quite dramatic.

Good luck, and hope this helps a little!

So felk,

just to clarify, you use nizoral in the shower followed immediately by nano? Aren't you worried that you aren't giving the nizoral enough time to do its work by mixing it with another shampoo afterward. I don't think a prewash is a concern but I'd be concerned about a post-wash.

I personally wouldnt mix those two shampoos....Id alternate them from day to day like you and I are doing.

I mean dr. proctor has told me he is unsure if even a conditioner *might* effect nanos effectiveness

Felk do you use proxiphen all over your scalp?

And do you get your proxiphen in a cream or solution vehicle?

I've just been on the NANO dudes website and he sells a NANO conditioner; either that or the NANO formula is a 2 in 1 affair.

Where do you buy the NANO shampoo with copper peptide? I only saw the regular shampoo and conditioner sold on dr protors website.

That's what he's talking about. NANO Shampoo has both NANO and a SOD (probably a copper-peptide).

SOD: superoxide dismutase.

And how does that translate as a copper peptide?

Copper-peptides have SOD activity.
