So whats the deal with horsetail? It's listed as an approved suppliment/herb for hairloss at the university of Maryland under alternative/complimentary medicine.

Also, HairLossTalk said this back in October 20th.

HairlossTalk said:
I know tons of people who swear by horsetail ... was thinking of getting it for our Product Center even...

SOMEWHERE there is a horsetail shampoo out there. Anyone know where?

So HairLossTalk.com please let us know whats going on with Horsetail? Are you hearing of people using it as a supplement or topical? Thanks.

May want to consider Bio-Sil by Jarrow instead. If it's the silica you're after.

BIOSIL
BioSil is a biologically active form of silicon which is 20 times more easily absorbed than the silica found in the horsetail plant & colloidal gels. The silica in those products must convert to Orthosilic Acid (the form in BioSil) for absorption to occur.

Silica is a common mineral in our bodies, which appears to decrease with aging. Low levels are associated with increased risk for atherosclerosis. Silica is primarily in high fiber foods.

Silica may be useful for:

Hair thinning & hair loss.
Skin health.
Increasing bone strength & bone healing such as for osteoporosis or bone fractures.
Increasing joint flexibility as in arthritis.
Strengthening tooth enamel & promoting healthy gums.
Protecting against atherosclerosis in those at high risk.
DIRECTIONS: Six drops 1-2 times daily.

Then there's this:
The superiority of silicon from BioSil™ has been proven in a peer reviewed scientific study comparing three different forms of silicon. The results of the comparative, cross-over, double-blind clinical trial demonstrated that the stabilized monomeric form of silicon (stabilized orthosilicic acid – as found in BioSil™) is far superior to colloidal silica and horsetail extract. In fact, of the three experimental groups, only BioSil™ offered a bioavailable source of silicon; the other forms of silicon (horsetail and colloidal gel) were no better than placebo
