I dont care about the libido, but this ...male breast enlargement thing, wtf. How real of a threat is it, I remember someone told me here a while back its a small percentage but have any of you guys gotten such a side effect? How do you even detect it, is it something that happens relatively soon if its gonna happen or what....and does it go away if you discontinue, is there anything else I should know before starting on how to check for things that might be signs I cant take propecia?

If you're concerned have an anti-estrogen (actually a Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator aka SERM) on hand too, such as Nolvadex. You can get generic versions fairly cheap. This will inhibit the receptors for estrogen in the nipples and thus should prevent gyno, especially since finasteride/propecia.

I'm not an expert on it but there are people on here who can tell you more. Ask your Doctor, I went to see mine about Gyno and despite my nerves beforehand, they actually didn't give me a lecture about me buying drugs off the internet or anything like that.

Like so many of the sides with Propecia, if it happens it's not exactly gonna be overnight. You'll probably feel it coming long before anything obvious & irreversible happens.

I felt a slight tingling in my nipples early on in the Propecia usage but that's it. It does get worse when I up the dosage though, just like the sexual side effects.

I will definately look into SERM , I need to figure out what doctor to go to though, that knows everything particularly about propecia and then incorporating this...I guess the thing I really wanted to know is if it does happen you can stop taking propecia and it will go away or if its something permanent...I know about rash side effects that leave once you stop taking it , and then like with libido i think its not really permanent...but gyno, does it stay with you or what....well I'll look for a Doctor about this thanks for the input.

The permanency of breast gyno depends on how much of it you got before you quit. Mild cases seem to reverse when you quit the drug, but if you kept taking finasteride until you needed a bra then it may never fade away entirely without lipo or something.

Sexual sides seem to be the same ballgame. Although I've surfed the worst Propecia horror stories and most of them say things still ARE getting better but it takes a couple years for them.

I think the incidence of gyno on Propecia is something like 0.3%, in fact no different to the incidence on placebo. So it is a possibility, but a remote one.

Breast enlargement on Proscar (higher dose form of Propecia) was less than 2.2 percent. According to the clinical trials there was no significant amount of breast enlargement in users of Propecia. I suspect it is far less than 1 percent for Propecia.

Don't fall for this "Propecia sides are rare" BS.

They're not present for everyone but they're more common than the official figures. A HELL OF A LOT more common. The issue is pretty well known among the veterans in the male pattern baldness community.

(Yes, I've tried finasteride myself. And I'm still on it. And I'm not getting terrible sides from it either.)

DO YOU HAVE ANY CLINICAL PROOF OF THIS? or just pulling it from your ***? What number do you have that says it is higher than the numerous studies that all have sides around 2%
