So I Just Started Using Finnasteride - How Much Longer Before I Should Do Surgery?

I'm a NW2V - I have some mild recession in the temples but a little more extreme loss in the crown - 2 balding patches that I noticed when I was 25 or 26. I started using rogaine since then and I have not lost any more hair. Last week, I also started using finasteride

here's my question - do I wait 5-6 months before surgery in hopes that maybe the finasteride will regrow all my lost crown hair or is that very unlikely?? I don't think I've had any sides on finasteride BTW - I've had no problems finishing sexually 1-3 times a day

I'm 29 by the way. I have great density in the hair except for the temples and the crown. I think a transplant with a good surgeon will make my hair look fantastic

what's the downside of surgery now?

the downside is the potential that - finasteride actually does NOT work for you, you're all out of options to maintain your hair, you get Telogen Effluvium from the surgery (which is very very likely btw) and you continue to lose behind the transplants. You'll end up like me, f*****g weird looking. Don't listen to what anyone says otherwise... this is the very REAL truth and you read about it all the time. Make 100% sure you can maintain with finasteride, which takes at least a year.

I haven't lost any hair in a couple years, the rogaine has seemingly maintained all my hair. Did you not read the OP?

I did read it... but how long do you expect that to last? minoxidil stops working after a couple years. I have NEVER read about anyone with male pattern baldness that's maintained on minoxidil for more than five years.

oh ok I didn't know that

if I maintained so well with rogaine, why would I not react well to finasteride?

you might, who knows. two completely different drugs with very different mechanisms. I react well to minoxidil, finasteride just destroys my hair. If your hair is like the guys in the video, then I have to be honest and say that a transplant is like a death sentence UNLESS you're certain you can maintain what you have. I am honestly shocked that clinic even performed those.
