I think im going bald , well I AM going bald , that much is obvious from the pictures im about to show you .

Im 24 years old (25 in 2 weeks) and this is kinda depressing . My hair was like the one thing that made me stand out , physically speaking. Although i was half prepared for it , since my dad is bald as hell since young , although there is no baldness in my mom's side .

Like 3 months ago , i discovered folliculitis all over my scalp and face. It was so bad that i even had swollen glands on my neck . Doctor decided to give me antibiotics and he also noticed how bad my acne was at the time and decided to start me on Transretinoic acid (Accutane like drug) .

Well my acne is better than ever (nonexistent actually) , thanks to the drug , ive been on it for about 2 months now . One of the side effects of accutane is diffuse hair thinning and hair loss , although some reports say it can cause other types of hair loss. I still have about 2-4 months to go .

About 2 weeks ago i got a haircut and the person that cuts my hair (the same person that has done this for the last 10 years) , told me that i might be following my dads footsteps. This is the second time she says something like this , the first time i was not on Accutane (i still had the folliculitis though) .
Anyways ive noticed that my hair has never been that thick on the back . For years now , i stopped wearing caps at 16-17 cause i thought it was related to that . So i dont think its related to any particular situation/condition and just typical male pattern baldness .

Anyways i told my Doctor about my concerns and he gave me 5% minoxidil and told me to use it every night... thats it .

What im worried about is having to use something like Minoxidil for my entire life. Ive heard that Minoxidil is better for growing new hair , but i think something like finasteride or maybe a topical DHT inhibitor could help me more , cause i think my case would benefit me more. And then theres finasteride which has a pretty scary list of side effects...... I dont know what to do guys.

I would rather use a pill every day (although i guess i could handle a topical treatment) , but dealing with ED at 30-40 years of age is a scary thought . But i dont want to be bald so young either...

This all happened so fast too... I have been dealing with a tremendous amount of stress related to my personal and professional life , so i think that might have accelerated it . Hell , my mother even suggested a shrink once..

Ive been using Anaphase by Ducray shampoo , and a friend commented that my fair looks better than ever , and i have noticed that its stronger and decreased shedding too . But that shampoo is basically just vitamins ...

Suggestions please? Thanks

u can basically break down male pattern baldness into 2 forms. typical and diffuse. in typical it follows the norwood chart, as in temples recede and then the crown starts off small and gets bigger. in diffuse it thins pretty evenly over the whole norwood 6 pattern until bald.

u havent shown us the temples, so its hard for us to say if its male pattern baldness. if that spot on ur crown is not just the swirl, that most people get, then the temples will have receded by now. if temples havent receded then its probably not male pattern baldness.

perhaps add photos of temples. but personally it looks fine to me.

Im sorry i thought i added them ! Thanks for your reply

Its strange , i mean its not like a bald spot... after the 2/3 of my head all my hair suddenly becomes thin and much more scarce. You can see it in the picture where the first 2/3 are dark black and then the density decreases abruptly and my you can see through most of the back of my scalp.

Also i just noticed i have a rash on my neck wtf ....

BTW you can see i have a clear are in the front of my head , ive never actually had hair there... The picture on the right was taken when i was 10 years old and i have th exact same clear , to this day .

Okay and last pic ill add... this one is really strange . Ever since my last hair cut i noticed that i have a line of ...hairlessness? , that goes from near the front of my head , to the back , and meets up with the spot near my crown .
What ive been doing is that i part my head to the place where the line starts and it literally looks NORMAL , as if i somehow intended to go for that "look" . Its not a circular spot either .
