The Rogaine foam is sold in a can and usually costs more, but most people seem to prefer it to the liquid versions.

Ok i want to order just want to make sure i get it right, there are 5% and 2% which do i get to start? also can't i get the foam with a cheaper brand than Rogaine? I do want to get the foam as everyone is suggesting the liquid to be un-practical, is this right? could i get a comb applicator or something with the liquid to make it easier? some feedback please guys as i will be making my order next few days. :)

You'll want 5%.

Sadly, the foam is only Rogaine brand because it only came out a few years ago and it's still patented. No generics can be sold legally in the US and Europe yet.

I am using the liquid and I'm having great results, but it's made my scalp kind of itchy and flaky. Some people do not have this problem, I think it's a slight allergic reaction to the PPG in the solution and not the minoxidil itself. It's gotten worse for me in the past month so I might be switching to Rogaine foam even though its much more expensive.

If I were you I'd order kirkland liquid first and just try it out. It's cheaper, so if you can deal with it it's a better option to me. If you don't like it you can always start buying foam too.

Thanks for the reply :) what about Spectral are they a decent brand as the have great deals for 6 months supply is £29.95? Kirkland is £35 for 6 months, but if they have a better rep i'll go for them

I use Dr Lee's 5% with retin-a and Nanominox-MS.

I like Dr Lee's because it dries very fast and nanominox-ms because you can wash it out after 15 minx.

others say nanominox dries fast but it leaves my hair with a wet get look.

I've used kirkland before and it is greasy and sticky stuff.

Also use the foam but made my hair worse. Google minoxidil foam shedding.

There's a big thread on nanominox on this site:

Kirkland is very greasy, as is Rogaine liquid.

However because of its low price and equal strength, I use Kirkland every evening and then use Rogaine Foam in the mornings. It's a more practical and cost effective combo.

I can afford to have my hair looking like greasy crap in the evenings, but in the mornings with the foam it still looks good and non-greasy, which is not something you can say for most other minoxidil brands.

Honestly if I apply it at night to my dry hair it doesn't look greasy because I put the dropper "into" my hair and onto my scalp. Only around the hairline where I've rubbed it in does it get greasy.

Now if it's still wet from the shower when I apply it it looks like crap. I haven't been putting it in during the mornings cause of that.
