So how bad is it

Alright so I'm 22 and I noticed my hair receding back about 2 years ago. I usually keep my hair long but every once in awhile I shave my head and I see how much its changed. I'd say my hair looked pretty much the same till I was 18 or 19. Its only really been within the last 3 years that my hair has pulled back. Before then my hairline was always pretty much a straight line across my forehead with a tiny windows peak. Here are some super fancy photos and drawings I've done.

From the side a bit

Demonstrating my drawing skills to show somewhat how it looked 3 years ago

I've seen the norwood chart and was wondering exactly what type this was.

Also is this considered normal? I read that around my age the hairline can pull back quickly like this and then remain this way for years or do you think the rate would continue and in another 3 years It will pull back considerably.

As far as my parents go my hair is the most similar to my father who's 55 also has a pretty high hairline although I'm not sure as much as me. Then again my grandfather on my mothers side of the family had hair like Homer Simpson since he was 30 which is a bit scary. :thumbdown2:

Personally I have a pretty bad outlook on this haha. Might have to get a jar and start throwing in my loose change for a future hair transplant. :tellme:

Could be a mature hairline, could be the start of male pattern baldness; I can't really tell at this stage.

A "mature hairline" is recession from NW1 to a NW2 that a large amount of men get at their early 20's - it receeds to a NW2 and only starts receeding from there when/if the balding process starts "properly".

It does look a little more receeded than what I'd normally call a "mature hairline", but again, this can be normal.

If it receeded like that about 2-3 years ago and hasn't changed from then, I'd say you have nothing to worry about.
If it has slowly but surely been receeding right up until now then I'd be more cautious.

Getting on Finasteride would likely halt your loss, but again, it is too early to tell for me. You could be taking the drug for no reason.
We usually say to wait 6 months, take some more photos, then compare - this way if it is still receeding then you know it's the dreaded male pattern baldness.

I'd say it was beyond a mature hairline, especially for a young guy. :(

Looks like a NW2 to me, keep an eye on it.

That looks like the classic NW2. Is there any extra thinning on the temples than the rest of the head?

Looks like it's creeping beyond norwood 2 and getting dangerously close to norwood 3. Considering your age I think it's male pattern baldness.

He has a while to go until a NW3, he has a solid NW2 but i do think the moment he notices anymore recession he should consider treatments.
