I am sorry, you have to see the boisterous in someone pointing out a spelling/grammer aberration and then following the correction with a sentence like that. You are correct. I mispelled the word but it seems to me that you are standing in the middle of a glass house. Do you have any stones to throw?

There is no " health benefit " with smoking. Flat out. Who said there was?

Ok down off your soap box.

You keep reffering to your medical backround as well as all of the time you have spent helping people. You mention this as if you would like someone to take that into account for your foolish outlook on life. Why spend all of your time helping people if you view others in such an unnerving way? You believe someone owes you for your time because you work 60-80 hours a week?

It sounds to me that these high paying jobs that you have relinquished has made you believe you are a better person for it. Do not bring your problems as well as your poor decision's into this arguement and play it off like you have done anyone a favor. You do not wake up and make peanuts everyday and the mere fact that you are suggesting that you do what you do is because you generally like helping people is a crock of $#iT. I do not buy into it for a second.

It sounds as if you resent your job. :lost: There just might be some truth to that...no?

Congrats.... You are just " One of those guys. "

:agree:

So, why would you smoke if it brings no real benefit to either your health or your life? Talk about a waste of time and money. I believe that you don't have the courage to stop smoking and that's why you're so defensive. You lack the will to quit your habit.

Also, I wasn't making fun of your spelling abilities. I was making fun of the fact that you were using a misspelled word as such an important piece in your argument while trying to sound omniscient at the same time.

It's one thing to not like your job. It's quite another to have to be constantly disheartened by the stupidity of patients that maintain your caliber of cognitive abilities. Also, the underlined above simply proves that you are master of non-sequiturs and really not worth conversing with even on an internet forum.

Again, congrats on the habit and the infinite supply of B.S.

:thumbdown2:

Hummmm. I am wondering what to say to that...?

Blah blah. bhaaa. blahhhh.... Blah ta blahhh blahhh ga blam blahhhh. Gooo Goo taaa taaa...

Yes, I am done with you as well. You have shown your true color's on a monumental stage only to let other's view your nonsensical way of viewing common people. People such as yourself, someone that believes they are better than the next guy always end up missing out in life. Even you said you have devoted 60-80 hours a week to your work. I am sure your wife and kids, if any at all, relish this time away from you. Having a detached husband or a disjoined father is something your family has grown acustom to.

You keep working hard there Tiger! I beleive you when you have said there is nothing in your life you wouldn't change, I am sure it's the reason you live a perfect life, with no " HABITS ( spelled that correctly for you this time ) while other's continue their smoking and drinking of " that alcohol. "

I will continue errecting million dollar homes and buildings just for the lone reason so people will have a place to sleep at night or go to work in the morning. Thats why I wake up, I turn down jobs that will make me money and I just stick to the jobs that will help people. :puke:

Keep on keeping on Tiger.

Please don't take offence but I consider smokers to by marginally abusive towards their own health and those around them. They are also contributing to global warming too.

I've always avoided smoking and have never even tried it in my 25 years, out of about 15 of my mates id say 4 smoked when we were teenagers, so peer pressure wasn't an issue then (although I'd say about 12 smoke now!)

Do the right thing and give up, or try to, the less people smoke the less exposure tobacco gets.

I sound stupid saying that but it's all so simple!

I agree. I want to quite but for some reason have not. I someday wish to be an ex-smoker.

Like I said...no courage and no will. Only an overblown ego and an inner child struggling to be recognized by others to gain a sense of self-worth.

You're aware of your problem, and yet, you do nothing stop it. Believe it or not, that actually makes you insane. Very similar mentality to the criminal that murders people and feels guilty about it afterwards, but continues to do it anyway.

Nope, there is a difference. I compared the mentality, not the action. The will (or lack there off) is the same.

By the way, that was a nice little overblown discussion you had before about building million dollar houses. Try working for Habitat for Humanity sometime and build some houses for free, so you can learn what it means to be humbled in the presence of those greater than you. Money is worthless when compared to the smiles and joyful tears of those that can't afford housing for their families. Trust me, it's a real learning experience of which you are in dire need.

By definition, a murder is a homicide (the killing of one human being by another) that is committed intentionally, or with malice aforethought.

The two have "nothing"... I mean nothing to do with each other. Flat out. No matter how you want to flip it.

This is good.

Hurricane Katrina was the costliest and one of the five deadliest hurricanes in the history of the United States. It was the sixth-strongest atlantic hurricane ever recorded and the third-strongest hurricane on record that made landfall in the United States.

In 2005 I flew down to Long Beach, Mississippi with 3 other great guys to help in any way we could. Armed with toolbelts, extention cords, circular saw's and a small carry-on with clothes we selected to leave our lives to help other's. We did not get a chance to rebuild anyone's home for that it was to far gone with no materials to re-build with. We spent 11 days building small shelters, sorting out wood, rubbish, car parts, tree's,animals, personal belongings, furniture and other terrible things you would have no idea about and helping people in any way we could. I was witness to some of the worst devistation this country has ever seen. I can say I was there. I can say that I helped. I can say that I made a small difference in those people and their recovery.

That was my learning experience. Although that was a couple of years ago and you seem to think I need another one.

Another typical response by someone that knows dog sh1t about another person.

Didn't you say in one of your first post's that you know guys like me?

And I qoute you " I know people like you, too. They think they understand others by simply reading their words. In truth, you have no idea who I am "

Incogitable how true that statement is. You have been proven to be the fraud that you are, an imposture, a fake, you are a counterfeit. You have now lost any leg to stand on with this arguement as well as all credability.

You sir... are a tool and for your sake you should really :stfu:

It's nice that you did that for those in that disaster. However, it doesn't make your accomplishments any greater. You sure do enjoy bragging about your accomplishments during disaster while others suffer. I hope that helps you sleep at night.

Many people got on planes and left their love ones for far longer than you did. I do so enjoy discovering the type of person that you really are as I believe that you are exaggerating. Not with regards to your contribution, but with regards to how you interpret your own sense of accomplishment. Like I said, you NEED the attention and the sense of self-satisfaction that you get from helping others. If your goals were altruistic there, then your words have cancelled out any sense of sacrifice that you might have made. A person that is truly sacrificial with regards to their time and their money remains completely unknown. They receive nothing in return including a sense of self-worth. Because, once that happens, your choices are no longer altruistic in nature. They are selfish.

You, sir, are the imposter. Many of us (including myself) leave our homes and travel to other countries to care for the sick, the hungry, the homeless, and the injured. I know countless individuals that have left this country for years to help others and I've never heard them brag the way that you do. But, I will not give you specifics and I will not tell you my or their stories, because I do not require validation from you or anyone else.

By the way, the underlined and bolded above proves my point.

Would what you wrote sort-of be considered " bragging about your accomplishments " or prehapes you NEED to let me and others know about your sacrifices you have made to validate your self worth?

If we look at the " real " situation here, from the start, you have been throwing your medical history around along with your years of schooling and how you help people everyday of your life. Then you post this dribble?

Am I missing something?

You called me out, telling me that I should do something for people that are less fortunate? I shared my experience.

What are you talking about?

Again. You have put your foot in your mouth only to show just how comical a person you really are. Incongruity is written all over your post's backed with no validity. I am pleased with this arguement for that I hope other's on this forum all have had the chance to witness how you have conducted yourself. Your opinion's and your logic are clouded with ignorant post's and a precarious thought proccess.

I will say again Sir. You should really just :stfu:

Smoking sucks - and it's stupid. It's bad for your hair. Someday I'd like to quit for good (instead of always being in the process of quitting). :puke:

They say that l-cystine, b6, and NAC are essential supplements to take if you're a smoker. Might help w/ the hairloss.

whoa, a post which is actually about the topic of this thread.

the thing that would worry me most about smoking is the premature aging of the skin, anything that affects the quality of your skin affects the quality of your hair. if you add to that the fact that smoking raises DHT by 14% or something thereabouts, who could doubt that it will have a negative effect on our hair loss.

No, I laughed at you and I gave up, because I view you as hopeless. You've made my point about requiring recognition by PM'ing me. I walked away from this conversation, but you had to continue it, because you lack the fundamental capacity stop yourself from digging your own grave verbally, idealogically, and philanthropically.

Again, I did not say that those were my accomplishments (read very closely. Grammar skills apparently aren't your strongest attribute), but I did say that you really have no idea what it means to sacrifice, because you think you deserve some sort of prize when you actually do or say something even remotely close to resembling human.

Anyway, if you respond to this I won't answer. If you PM me, you will be reported.

By the way, since I know you need someone to recognize your achievements, you really should post your address on this site. Follow that with some Katrina facts. After that, put down how many houses you helped rebuild, how mouths you fed, how kittens you saved from the raging waters, and how many days you were there exactly. I really want to compare your stats to everyone else's stats that went down there, so I can break it down into percents. I'm doing all of this, because I think that the entire HairLossTalk.com community would like to make you a trophy and a plaque with all those statistics on it, so you have something to place over your fireplace. That way, you can come home from your long day of work and put a smile on your face knowing that you saved five percent of all kittens saved during that disaster.

You still don't understand altruism and I don't believe that you ever will.

Just a piece of what is already known. The list of smoking's harmful effects is long and quite well-known in terms of the pathology. Lung cancer, lung disease bladder cancer, premature skin aging, atherosclerosis, thromboangiitis obliterans, poor heart, liver, and kidney health, dermatologic cancers and conditions, increased risk of stroke, and increased risk of deep vein thrombosis in susceptible populations due to the incredibly detrimental effects of cigarettes on the clotting cascade are just the tip of the iceberg of potential life-threatening reasons not to smoke. I hate to say, but you'd really have to either be a dumbass or just uninformed to smoke these days. Especially, if you have kids. Smoking outside does nothing to prevent secondhand smoke. You pick the kid up and put them close to you and they get an even higher dose of carcinogens than if you simply sat there and smoked right in front of them, because your clothes are constantly saturated with the stuff.

J Dermatol Sci. 2007 Oct 19; [Epub ahead of print] Links
Tobacco smoke causes premature skin aging.Morita A.
Department of Geriatric and Environmental Dermatology, Nagoya City University Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Nagoya 467-8601, Japan.

Smoking tobacco is the most preventable cause of morbidity and is responsible for more than three million deaths a year worldwide. In addition to a strong association with a number of systemic diseases, smoking is also associated with many dermatological conditions, including poor wound healing, premature skin aging, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, oral cancer, acne, psoriasis, and hair loss. This review focuses on the effects of smoking on premature skin aging. It has been long established that smoking has deleterious effects on skin. Epidemiological studies indicate that smoking is an important environmental factor in premature skin aging. In vitro studies indicate that tobacco smoke extract impairs the production of collagen and increases the production of tropoelastin and matrix metalloproteinases (MMP), which degrade matrix proteins, and also causes an abnormal production of elastosis material. Smoking increases MMP levels, which leads to the degradation of collagen, elastic fibers, and proteoglycans, suggesting an imbalance between biosynthesis and degradation in dermal connective tissue metabolism. Reactive oxygen species are also involved in tobacco smoke-induced premature skin aging. Scavengers of reactive oxygen species ameliorate the induction of MMP. Tobacco smoke extract also impacts dermal connective tissue in nude mice. Thus, in vitro and in vivo evidence indicates that smoking tobacco leads to accelerated aging of the skin. These findings might be useful to motivate those patients who are more concerned about their appearance than the potential internal damage associated with smoking to stop smoking.

Does anyone think that smoking about one a week would have any visible negative impact on your hair? (this is currently what i am smoking, I can easily stop this if it is damaging my hair regrowth).

No - smoking 1 cig a week is probably the equivilent of walking down a city street. 1 a week is cool.

(zero per week would be better though :)

That's great man. Best of luck w/ that. There's a couple of pretty cool "Quit Smoking" forums out there too - if you ever feel you need some additional moral support.

I haven't had a smoke in 4.5 hours. I've maqnaged to cut wayy back (on a good day) but still haven't quit quit.

Anyway - good luck again.
