Hey guys, im sure this has come up before but, will being a daily pot smoker effect my hairloss? How about cigarettes? Or even my diet? My hair looks pretty full when its not wet. My thinning is gradual and has been thinning for years now. (age18-22) My hair is thinning all over but mostly at the hairline and crown is where i see it the most.

Get on the big 3! the sooner u get on this regimen the more chances you'll have in saving or perhaps regrowing your hair. I'm a diffuse thinner like you and I've just recently started my regimen, and I'm noticing already my hair getting thicker, I really wont have an evaluation until at least past the six month period , it may even take a year just to determine how effective it has been on my hair.

Big 3
Propecia , rogain foam(minoxidil) , nizoral.

Im already using Nizoral 1% and Neutrogena stubborn itch control. The shampoos help, but its not an asnwer. Will my smoking interact with the minoxidil or finasteride? Should I see a dermatologist? Also, how long can you leave gel or hair products in? After a night at the bar or club I go to sleep and dont wash out the gel, is this bad?

I've been on propecia/rogaine for 10 years. I have smoked (until recently) fairly regularly since I was in my late teens (I'm 31). I can't say what propecia actually did for me.....it's hard to to know what i might look like if I hadn't taken it of course... All I know is that I have my hair. Only recently (still on Propecia. and rogaine) has my hair started receding again which is quite the FU. If anything, I suppose it's postponed my hair loss, but I'd have to say that if pot affected my hair, it would have long ago.

I think (and I'm no expert) that when we start to thin, we try to come up with a reason why it's happening. Am I not eating properly? exercising regularly? how's my circulation? Smoking cigarettes? Smoking pot? etc. etc. etc. I've certainly been doing that as of late when a few months ago, my hair started taking a turn for the worse. Sometimes, though, it just happens.... in fact, I think that balding just ALWAYS happens if it's going to happen. It sucks *** and i pray everyday that it stops RIGHT THERE, but it is what it is I guess.

I'd try to do the propecia thing if I were you. If it doesn't cause you any lewd side effects, it might help you some. As for pot, I hear a lot of different things, but as I said..... if it hurts your hair, I'd be bald like 10 years ago..... hard to say.

If you're inhaling carcinogens on a regular basis and topping that off with another form of smoke (pot is also a carcinogen), and a poor diet, then yeah, that's not helping you keep your hair, your health, or having any other kind of good side effect.

Yes sorry i should have added that as well. It certainly doesn't help keep your hair, but I don't think anyone would say that it directly causes it.
