Hi, I'm a 25 year old white male. I'm freaking out wondering if I'm going bald or if I'm deficient in some vitamin or what!

About 5 days ago after getting out of the pool, I noticed the hair at the part on my head seemed thinner than before, mostly on the left side. After about 2 days, I noticed a small patch on the left side of my front hairline, above my temple, that appeared to be a balding spot of some sort. I'm not exactly sure, but it sort of seems like its gotten bigger over the course of 5 days and I can kind of feel it on my head.

I have pretty long hair, almost to my shoulders, but the hairs coming from around this spot are all much shorter, some around 3 inches and some a half inch or less. I thought I had it figured out when I remembered that I had been brushing my hair when it was wet, starting from that spot and pulling it to the back to the right. I thought maybe I had caused some damage and I just needed to stop brushing it, but it seems like it might be getting worse, although I'm not exactly sure.

Also, it seems like my hair is getting tangled more than normal or something, and it maybe seems a little drier than before and not quite as shiny. I'm not sure, but something about it seems off, and it really seemed to come out of nowhere.

Another weird thing is that most everything seems to be happening on the left side, the right side seems pretty normal.

There is a history of thinning hair on the men on my moms side of the family, but I believe it happened in their mid 30s and 40s, not at age 25, and gradually over time. My dad though still has a pretty good head of hair that looks about as good as it ever did. This just seems so sudden and its freaking me out! Could it be something from the pool or some vitamin I'm deficient in?

I've had digestive problems in the past after 2 years of antibiotics, which after I stopped caused bad digestive problems and strange symptoms like cold hands at times and a foggy mind, which have gotten better over time but are still somewhat present. Seems somewhat similar to anemia. Could I be deficient in Iron? I could just be grasping at straws, but something seems weird.

If I am just starting to go bald, is there anything I can do??? Is it possible it's from a chemical in the pool??

that is male pattern baldness. start finasteride 1mg or 1.25mg and you will probably maintain at least. Not unusual for assymetric recession to occur, definitely not vitamin deficit it wouldn't happen in a male pattern baldness pattern

inheritance for male pattern baldness is extremely complicated isn't really that unusual to start balding earlier or differently than other people in your family, or start balding even if there is no one else in your family balding

Have your blood tests done, especially iron which should be quite cheap.

I feel i had unpleasant effects because of antibiotics too, i used to get strep throat yearly and was always put on different antibiotics. I suspect this is one of the reasons i get hair loss. Lately i stopped gluten and any processed sugar foods, lowered the meat/animal fat intake and my digestive system feels better. Antibiotics kill gut flora which in turn contribute to poor nutrient absorbtion.

My advice is not to start propecia untill you've exhausted other causes and at least went on a healthy diet.

Also, if you swim in pools a lot, you should get a cap. Pools have a lot of chlorine, which can't be good for hair that is already in trouble.

I dont think its male pattern baldness . It is not unusual to have some recession at his age
