Sleeping Wearing My System - It Came Off!

hi all

I woke this morning to find the back half of my system had peeled off! I’m still fairly new to this so I guess maybe I didn’t press down firmly enough when I initially attached it on Saturday. I don’t think I pulled the system far back enough for starters.
Does anyone use tape and add a few coats of glue on top of that before bonding for a stronger hold?

Thanks

It sounds like you didn't do a proper attachment. I only add glue on top of tape when I perspire a lot, and I get lifting at the back edge. If I can't fit an entire strip of tape, I add a bit of glue between my skin (that I clean) and the tape that is still stuck to the lace.

Oops! What adhesive did you use, and what type of base is it?
I have a full skin perimeter with lace in the middle at present. The tape I used was Walkers red tape. What I did was remove it and clean it, then re-attached with tape and Ghostbond for a firmer hold. I'm certainly 'learning on the job' here as it were haha! I think using both Tape and Glue works better for me, as the hold feels much firmer now :)

A skin perimeter is a good surface for attaching tape to. Is your scalp where you attach the tape buzzed and wiped with alcohol to take off any oil?

My guess is that you are getting a less-good hold because you are mixing glue and tape. Either one on its own should be enough. Try just using tape, and make sure you attach in a cool dry place and stay cool and dry (no sweating, showering or swimming) for say 4 hours, to give the adhesive time to cure.

Let us know how you get on.

I definitely didn’t attach it properly. Think I’ve learnt my lesson now! Haha. I perspired a lot in my sleep which may be the reason. I remember waking and sweating. Thanks for the tips for the future

Yes it was totally clean etc,but it never felt totally secure,I think maybe because I didn’t fit it snuggly where it was supposed to go and that I sweated that night, which may have caused the lift. Thanks for your advice, appreciate it Do you ever use glue on the front? I find it gives a better hold than the tape

I find I actually get a longer hold from tape, at the hairline, then glue. But remember, all of this information is very general. It depends on you, and your body chemistry and the specific brand and product in each category. What works one way for one person, does not necessarily do the same for others. I try to be (and do not always succeed) in making my recommendations based on the caveat of "in my personal experience".

Good luck!

I'm the same way with tape and glue at the hairline

I'm currently experimenting with trying a 3rd layer of glue in order to prevent this because I really love the natural look of the glue front

Yes, glue for me at the hairline too. If you are concerned about the hold you can run a line of strong tape parallel with your hairline but a half-inch back from the edge, and then just glue that half-inch at the front. The tape takes all the strain off the hairline glue.

Thanks for your feedback guys!

One last question - what conditioner do you use? I se pro hair labs atm but it’s very expensive! Any cheaper ones that are just as effective?

I use ONLY Schwarzkopf, Gliss products, shampoo, conditioner and leave in conditioner (with sunscreen for summer).

Excellent products, and very reasonably priced.

When I was exposing my hairline... I did EXACTLY the same thing. I had a mostly tape bond, with just a small amount of glue to clean up. A hairline repair took 15 mins since there was so little to deal with.

American Crew for me, with mint oil. It's worth getting a decent one, but you don't need a specialist hair replacement product - a rich good quality one from the supermarket is fine. Try to keep the conditioner off the knots and the base though.
