You have a really good point. I think it can.
Up to a few years ago, I would have never even though Michael Jordan was bald! Just that he keeps his hair short or shaves it.
I shaved for a while and I'm a dark guy that is naturally pale. I've got near enough black hair (it's dark, dark brown) peope even asked me if it is jet black but it's not and I have blue eyes.
I tan usaully quite well but where I live, we are lucky if we get 3months of summer and even then, there will be periods of rain, cloud etc.
When I was tanned and shaved, the difference was huge compared to December and being pale.
Having dark hair and a pale tone is a nightmare too when you are starting to recede/thin too as it shows up much more than say someone who is red/blonde/ginger. I have a friend who is NW4 and absoulty diffuse thinning too, yet he grows his hair to a medium level and you barely notice his thinning - just that he is receding.
I had reasonable success (mostly positive comments about it) with the shaved look and might well try it again at somepoint but I'd maybe try a tan for the winter months, but can make you look awful too if it's too much.
The amount of women you see walking around that look like lumpa-lumpa's or bright orange is just awful. I'd never go on a sunbed, and I think fake tanning lotion probably ends up with smudge marks, I've seen many on women who are meant to be experts at applying it. I don't know if such a 'natural' olive skin colour exists in those spray-tan salons, or if women, just ask for too many and end up getting that awful bright colour that seems they all have these days and even some of them men too.
Another negative point about being pale compared to peachie/pinky or olive skin is that people who try to get a tan are put themselves not just at the risk of skin cancer but aging too from the sun rays. I live in a country where we have a rubbish climate. Like I said nearly 9months of the year will be grey, clouds, rain, and in the December - Feb we get about 6hrs of daylight if lucky.
So when summer weather comes around, people are swanning about with their clothes off trying desperatly to tan.
