Hello,

Currently, I am sixteen years old and since I was thirteen, I have noticed that the hair around my temples were thinning. As the years went on and the hairstyles changed, I became concerned about my hairline. At the moment, I have hair that is about a year old and I have been putting it in a ponytail for the past week. I wash my hair about every two days with organic shampoo (two-three minutes) and conditioner (five minutes). With this, I put two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before in my hair to remove dandruff and help with my dry scalp. Once I finish taking a shower, I let my hair air dry. However, the problem with my hair is I have noticed that the top of my hair line has been receding. I cut some of the top hairs when I got a line up as you will see in the picture, but the thinning hair is making me worried as I am fixated about my hairline and I take notice to every detail. Obviously, I am not as experienced as most of the people here on male pattern baldness, receding hair lines, hair thinning, etc. and I need help on this subject. Would you say my hairline is receding or am I delusion? Are there anyways I can help it before it is too late? Lastly, are there any methods to washing my hair that some of you recommend.

Thank you very much for your time, I am a person that tends to worry quite a lot and I needed help with this. I have asked many people before, but they have told me that my hairline is maturing and I should not be worried.

P.S Sorry about the pimples, hormones have done their toll. Capture.JPGCapture2.JPGCapture3.JPGCapture4.JPGIMG_3968.jpgwadwad.JPG

Your hairline is receeding, but it's too early to say whether it is just becoming your mature hairline or if it is the start of male pattern baldness. If you are concerned, then I would recommend getting on topical spironolacetone and monitoring your hairline. Once you're 18 you may want to consider finasteride if you do have male pattern baldness. You can try revivogen shampoo too. Revivogen and spironolactone are safe at your age. Finasteride is more effective, but also more risky in under 18s.

Actually, looking at that first photo, I would put money on it being male pattern baldness. Early stages, but the way the sides align with the hairline looks a bit suspect along with the thinning in the hairline.

Go see a dermatologist to make sure, ask them to check for miniaturisation.

You would say there is a chance that it is male pattern baldness, but it is too early to determine? My brothers and my father have matured hairlines as they are older and no one in my family (cousins, uncles, etc.) are bald. What step of the Norwood scale would you say I am at?

Between 1 and 2. Not bad at all, many people have your hairline and aren't balding. But in your case I think you might be.

Maybe compare your bothers' hairlines and yours to see if the pattern is similar?

My eldest brother (30) did not maintain his hair and had a ponytail for fourteen years. His hairline has receded as he was under stress, did not wash his hair, put harmful products, etc. My second oldest brother (27) has a mature hairline with thick hair. Lastly, my third oldest brother (20) has a perfect hairline that has not matured. I am not worried about being bald, but I would like to cherish and embrace my moments as an adolescent teenager.

When you say 'your oldest brother didn't maintain his hair', do you mean he is bald? Stress and bad diet can cause temporary hair loss but not permanent.

Is your bother on any hair loss medications? If he's responding well, then chances are you will too.

um so nobody in your family suffers frorm Male Pattern Baldness and even your brother who was losing his hair (according to you, due to bad diet and stress) is recovering. If that's the case, you wouldn't need to worry too much I guess?? Probably your hair loss is temporary?

I believe I am still not used to not having the hairline I used to have and I am getting worried. My brothers told me that I should not worry at all.

He is not on any medications, but he is properly maintaining his hair and is making an effort with his diet.
