Sitting At Almost 12 Months, Time To Quit?

hey everyone, so Im about two weeks shy of a full year of 5 mg finasteride cut in fourths, got it from cvs. My hair hasnt gotten better, in fact Id say its worse than when I started. Should I continue for 2 years, or just get off of it?

I've been there myself. After 1y of 1mg daily propecia I was below baseline with what I perceived to be increased rate of loss, noticeable temple recession, and bald spot at the vertex. I decided to continue for 1 more year to give it the full 2yrs. My 2 year mark was about 3 weeks ago. My bald spots bigger, my recession is worse, and now I'm thinning throughout the hair line. I decided to stop finasteride and am weighing starting dutasteride now.

To anyone using finasteride I would suggest dropping it at month 6 if shedding has not stopped or slowed and waiting for the 1 y mark to notice any regrowth. If shedding hasn't stopped or slowed at month 6, i would not suggest continuing.

Same situation here. Took finasteride for 2.5-3 years and my hair got significantly worse in that time. Completely dropped it and on duta now, so will see how that goes.

larry, it could be because you are taking too much? I have heard that 0.2mg is as effective as 1mg and you are taking a multiple of that?

my friend it sounds as if your body is unresponsive to DHT inhibitors, either embrace the balding, or get a hair transplant
