Signs of Telogen Effluvium?

After taking a medication my hair has thinned noticably(with no hairloss at all), but not in the normal Norwood-areas. It has thinned all over, also at the sides and back.
Could this be a sign that this is Telogen Effluvium and not male pattern baldness?
And if it is Telogen Effluvium, what can I do about it? Should I just give it time?
