Sideburns an indicator of beard potential?

When I try, I can grow excellent, thick sideburns, although it takes a couple of months for them to come in thick. I'm wondering if I try to grow a beard, will it be the same thing? Are sideburns an indicator of beard potential?

Pretty much... The reason it takes a while for them to become thick is because the hairs overlap each other and they have to grow quite long to do that. I don't know how old you are but that's not an accurate measure anyway.... but yes i think it is a pretty good measure of potential beard growth.
