Hey guys.
I’m 33 year old male in the U.K. probably Norwood two with slight crown thinning.
My best friend has been on propecia for five years and credits the drug with his full head of hair. When I mentioned I was receding and thinning he suggested the drug. We both use generic finpecia 1mg a day.
Like many other people I did a lot of reading up on the drug and two years ago I tried finasteride for about two months. I had very mild ED (70% erections) loss of libido, ball ache and watery ejaculate. I went to see my GP who suggested that if I quit the side effects would stop. After 7 - 10 days All my side effects went away and I was back on form, although slightly miffed I was doomed to lose my hair.
Two years later after reading that side effects could be temporary I went back to my GP and we decided to give it another go. This time I tapered onto the drugs starting at 1 mg twice a week and increasing weekly until I was on 1mg per day.
I had what I would describe very minor side effects for the first two months. Similar 70% elections and watery semen although milder ball ache. I reassured myself that around half of those who had side effects and continued would see an improvement. And I did.
I’ve now been on the meds 5 months. By the 4 month mark I was totally back to normal minus watery semen, which is still there and I have slight decreased volume as well. This doesn’t bother me.
I just wanted to share this as I found it difficult to find info from guys who had rode out the side effects. It does happen and I guess first time round I just panicked. I was reassured that after I quit the first time I was back to normal within a week or so I thought it was worth a second try.
Very happy.
