Should I try finasteride?

Hey guys, I have been reading much of these boards the past couple months debating whether I should start finasteride. I am 23 and have pretty bad receding temples, but just recently I believe my hair is starting to thin as well. I have light blond hair so it is not easy to cover up. The one thing I am confused about is that I have read DHT causes body hair, and although I am balding I do not seem to have any body hair growth. Is it rare for this combination to occur?

Also if anyone could suggest where to buy and what dose to start out at I would appreciate it.

How much body hair you have is irrelevant. How much DHT you have is irrelevant. What matters is that you have the genetics for hair loss, this means that your normal levels of DHT are going to affect your hair follicles and eventually cause them to not produce any [visible] hair.

Some people are very hairy, take finasteride, and do not see any decrease in body hair. Others do. Some people don't have any body hair anyway. It's all genetic.

My advice? Get on finasteride because it might be the only way to save your hair. Don't read too much about it. Order two or three months of Finpecia on InHouse pharmacy or get a prescription and if you need to save money, then start buying Fincar and cutting it.

The reason I said don't read too much about it is because too many people quit if they don't see instant results or they'll get some minor side effect and never go back, or it's all in their head and they don't want to admit that. Get on it, stay on it for a while, and ask questions here or in the side effect forum if you need to.

Thanks for the quick responses. I also am concerned about the sides and I guess that is what is leaving me on the fence about this.

It's just cheaper, stick with finpecia if you want. fincar comes in 5 mg tablets you cut into 1/4ths, saves a lot of money.

don't be. I was too but then I took the plunge and I haven't had any real problems. Most people seem to have no side effects at all.

Alright, I think I will order proscar from InHouse and just cut it up like you suggest. I may start off at .5 mg and see if there are any side effects. I will keep you guys posted on my progress if there is any.

Do you think proscar is as effective as propecia? If yes, who would pay more for the same thing?

Yes, as it is the exact same drug.

And alot of people pay more for the same thing, the 5mg tablets which you split into 4's or 5's is prescribed for prostate enlargement, and many doctors won't prescribe this and only the more expensive 1mg tablets.

How Long does it normally take you guys to get your orders from Inhouse?? The tracking on mine shows that it arrived in NY on the 21st, but still no sign of it. Does this mean it was stopped at customs?

It usually gets stopped there for a while then one day it will show up at your door.

Sometimes it still shows it as "leaving port vinaeu" or whatever the place is called, then it will suddenly arrive at your house.

You should get it by Saturday if you're in the US and it was in NY on the 21st

if not, InHouse asks people to wait 21 days from the order date before you ask them about it

Just took my first dose. I cut the pill into fifths, but I should certainly try to find a pill cutter as I wasn't very exact. I will keep you guys posted on my progress and will upload some pics in the next few days.
