Hello everybody, im a 24 guy from so. california and ive been loosing my hair since about 16 or 17. Im probably about a norwood 2 or so right now. I tried minoxidil 5% and propecia at about age 19 with no positive results at all. I kind of stopped worrying about my hair as much as i used to but it still bugs me when i think about it. I know there isnt anything all that new or exciting as far as treatments for hairloss but im just wondering if dutasteride or the new rogaine foam would be worth a shot. I dont have a lot of money to waste so im just wondering if it would be worth it for me as i would really love to at least stop my loss. Has anybody out there not had results with propecia and minx but had results with some other treatment like tricomin or anything else? Thanks to those who reply!

Give the rogaine foam a try twice a day. It's helped a lot with my hairline and density in general. If you wanted to give propecia another try make sure you stay on for at least a year to evaluate results.

I agree try the foam and try an anti-androgen for at least a year. If you don't want to take propecia you can upgrade to dutasteride. I personally think its worth it.

So you guys think the foam may actually work better than regular minoxidil? What makes you think that way? I would love for it to help but im just skepticle cuz the first time i tried it for a good 10 months with nothing positive. Also i was on the propecia for about 10 months with no results. Thanks

It seems that your hair loss is quite aggressive if it is true that even 10 months of Propecia did nothing to halt your hair loss. The reason why folks say that the foam works better is because it penetrates the scalp better than the liquid version. Then the foam is far more convenient to use since it dries in a matter of a few minutes -- literally. Whereas, the liquid version takes HOURS to dry. Due to the convenience alone, the foam is much more superior. The foam has a 85% success rate in the clinical trials, versus 55% or so success rate with the liquid version.

You'll need to go see a doctor - preferably one that does miniaturization mapping. Many doctors will give a free initial consultation and even a prescription for propecia.

What results were you looking for while taking propecia? It's pretty uncommon for your frontal hairline and temples to grow back while taking propecia. Unless you were having side effects, I think you should get back on propecia, but only after your doctor tells you to do so.

First of all, your hairloss is not really agressive. It started at 16, but at 24 you are still a Norwood 2. Many are not that lucky, I started losing it about 2.5 years ago and have already passed the 2 on the scale in spite of being on treatments.

How did you know that propecia didn´t work with this ten months? Even at the worst case it should have slowed down your hairloss. So, my advice is as well. Get back on Propecia (or generic Finasteride) and start the foam again!

Good Luck!

Yeah im actually surprised that i am only a nw2. When my hairloss first started I thought i would be bald in a year or so, but thankfully its only been a slow steady process.

In the 10 months i was using propecia i was keeping a very close eye on my hair and it just seemed to keep the same pace of loss the whole time. It might have possibly slowed down but i really dont think so.

BTW what is miniaturization mapping?
