Its stupid that i have to ask this because minoxidil is approved medication, but i have red a few articles where it says that minoxidil can make the situation worse.

Help me folks, i need some motivation, and my question is simple, should i invest my time in this kind of treatment? :S

P.S. im not using finasteride, and i have recending hairline nw2

Generally minoxidil won't make the situation worse, although some people do shed in the beginning. The worst it can do is have no effect. Side-effect wise, it's generally a lot "cleaner" than propecia is, although it can cause heart palpitations and blood pressure problems with some.

IMO finasteride works better then minoxidil

i would ask the question if "should i be using finasteride" instead of asking about minoxidil

both medications are not approved for receding at the temples
some speculate the finasteride can help with the hairline

but i would consider using finasteride before minoxidil

if you can

cheers

Minoxidil will do less potential harm than Finasteride but in my opinion, neither are exceptable to me. We know DHT is used elsewhere in the body so why someone wants to reduce total DHT in the body just to potentially save the scalp confuses me. If Finasteride worked 100% of the time in all cases, I would probably have more faith in it, but in reality, this isn't true with some people not seeing any improvement in scalp hair. If there was a way to target DHT in the scalp while leaving the DHT in the rest of the body alone, this would be extremely good.

I will paste what Wikipedia says about the side effects of Minoxidil:

As a drug to combat hair loss, the most common side effect is itchy scalp. Alcohol present in topical preparations may dry the scalp, resulting in dandruff.[6] In some cases minoxidil may initially cause an increase in hair loss. Side-effects of topical minoxidil may include swelling of the face and extremities, rapid and irregular heartbeat, lightheadedness, cardiac lesions, and focal necrosis of the papillary muscle and subendocardial areas of the left ventricle

We know some of the above is true, and a dry scalp is very common with Minoxidil use.

Yeah its worth it. Although I would just use it on the crown for a little while just to see how you tolerate it. I cant use it anymore. I used it for awhile and for some reason i developed a reaction to it where i get bad palpitations. Im thinking of trying it one more time, but those palpitations can get bad.

I stopped using minoxidil because it gave me bloated face but I believe it was working for me. So, I would recommend it!!!

Don´t know if you´ll see much results from it alone. At least I didn´t. If you do decide to start, make sure to start nizoral as well, as your scalp might tend to get sore.

You should also keep in mind when deciding ...

... that once you start minoxidil - You should never stop -or all the growth gained from minoxidil will just shed after a few months.
