I'm 22 years old and need the straight opinion on my hair. I've always worn my hair down, because I've always had a high, v-shaped hairline since childhood and was self conscious of my big forehead. Here's a picture of me at 15, my hair isn't entirely out of my face but it gives you a good idea of where my hairline was at.

Three years ago I pulled my hair back in the mirror just on a whim and noticed just how irregular my hairline appears to be. My left side is very straight across and normal looking, but my right side is very uneven, thinner than the left, and has a slight dent at the temple. On the right side is also a significant cowlick which causes the hair to grow at odd angles. There is no history of hair loss in my family as far back as I can tell, and my dad at 53 still has a good head of hair. However, I am a bit obsessive compulsive, and began to take pictures over the months to try and document any changes that were taking place in my hair.

Here is a picture of me at 17, it seems as if the odd, sparse growing in my right hairline had existed at least from that age. You can also get a good idea of how high my hairline is.

Here are comparison pics I've taken, nearly two years apart, with my hair combed back while wet. The only big differences between my hair was that it was dyed black two years ago, and there was a much brighter light in the room in the recent pictures.

Lastly, here is a picture of my hairline with my brow furrowed. There is a two year difference in time between the two pictures, the one on top is the older of the two. http://img418.imageshack.us/img418/3541/hairlinems9.png

Do I have any reason to begin any sort of prevantative treatment like finasteride? Is the odd growing pattern my hairline is taking on the beginning of a mature hairline, or is it just irregular and not showing any signs of hairloss? Is this all in my head and can I just stop worrying about it?

Sorry for the very, very long first post, I just wanted to provide as much info as I could for you all to see. This obsession has consumed my life over the last three years and I would kill for any sort of peace of mind. Thanks to all who took the time to read and to any and all replies.

At the 2 pictures between 2004 and 2006, i could spot absolutely NO difference.
Your hair look great even under flash. Please dont waste your life caring about a problem you DONT have.
The only case is you are developing a mature hairline but even that i dont really see it.
I am not suggesting you to be ignorant. But there is no possible reason for you to start a treatment at the time. Keep watching it, but you are still years away from having to get on meds. And trust me, i am the biggest supporter of the idea that someone should get on meds by the very very first signs of baldness or thinning. Its just you dont have any!

Mate I can say 100% for certain, that it's all in your head! Give it at the very least another year or two before making any kind of treatment decision, seriously! I really think you have nothing to worry about at all.

Your hair looks great... I'd be much more concerned about that red sh*t on your face.

No signs of male pattern baldness... But take pics regularly to compare. When i started to suspicious of my male pattern baldness i entered in denial and thought that it was on my head because the recession was not visible and the hairloss was not agressive.
