I don't have male pattern baldness. I have traction alopecia from tight braiding on my hair when I was young. The hair from the front and sides of my head have fallen out a little and the hairline has moved back. I'm 19 now.

Is it wise to take propecia or is propecia for those suffering from male pattern baldness?

It's for people with male pattern baldness. Traction alopecia is caused by just that - traction. male pattern baldness is caused by DHT attacking hair follicles. Propecia is designed to inhibit DHT, therefore, it's only for MBP. It can do nothing for traction alopecia.

That said, I'd see a doctor just to make sure it's traction alopecia and not male pattern baldness.
