So I'm 16 and my hairline is changing a little realistically it's not that bad it's probably just maturing or a nw1.25 at worst. The reason this is a concern for me is it is happening so young and don't know if I should even consider meds based on my genetics.

My dad his brothers and my grandpa on his side are all thick nw2s and they are in their 50s and my grandpa in his late 70s

My grandpa on my moms side is also a nw2 with mild hair thinning but his hair was a perfect nw0 until his 40s

I think based on my age and current hair situation it would be a pretty bad choice to start medication now but I was wondering if my hair was to recede should I start minoxidil or fina I wouldnt mind if my hair became nw2 and I'd take that over a lifetime of medication my only fear is that I become a nw3 or 4

Do not start medication. Considering ur family history If I were in ur situation I probably wouldnt take meds unless I am legit going bald.

I agree, while pictures would help, I would normally recommend to use meds when you know for sure you are receding or thinning and it is an actual problem. While family history is important, it does not make or break a situation. You can still recede with good genetics and not recede with bad genetics.
