Should I Seek Dermatologist With Experience In Treating Hair Loss?

I'm currently selecting a dermatologist to treat my hair loss. Should I seek information or ask questions to see if a prospective dermatologist has experience or an interest in hair loss? If so, what should I ask or look for? Or is basically any dermatologist acceptable?

Any response will be appreciated.

I've had to switch a few times and found the easiest solution is to just call the office and ask if the doctor treats hairloss. Every times they've answered affirmative I've been told that I'm one of many patients on finasteride.

Sure fire way to narrow things down is to find a dermatologist that's bald lol

I would just check where they list out conditions they treat that hair loss is in there somewhere. IMO some dermatologists especially women are not very current or sympathetic on male pattern baldness compared to men.
You could call like the previous guy said and just ask.

There are many derms who specialize in hair/scalp issues, but I have gone to see well-known experts in the field, and you should keep in mind that there is very little they can do for you unless your particular condition is special (e.g., you have hair loss and migraine headaches that have coincided). If it is truly androgenic alopecia, there is almost nothing they can do for you outside of minoxidil and finasteide, although I will tell you that many derms are now a bit fearful of recommending the latter.

It depends what you are looking for. If you are just looking for a derm to put you on Propecia, anyone will do.
