Should I quit treatments?

Hey, just wanted to thank everyone for their support on the forums to all us fellow male pattern baldness'ers. When I was 20 I first noticed my hairloss beginning, I started treatments immediately. Well, I am 22 now and I have been on proscar 1/5th daily for 16+ months. My crown is showing signs of thinning and it has gotten rather aggressive. Does this mean the finasteride is having no affect on me? I am probably just one of the unlucky unresponders. It really sucks, but I don't want to fool myself into thinking there is a cure for my problem. On a good note, I started lifting weights and I honestly am doing excellent minus the hairloss. So my question is, finasteride obviously did not help my cause, should I jump on dutasteride or just let nature take it's course?

If you feel that proscar is doing nothing for you then you should start avodart. But never quit the treatments.

If finasteride had no effect, what is to say dutasteride will help the situation? Is it because it blocks the other inhibitor? I am really afraid of dutasteride because of all the side effects, I would rather just live a healthy life than to be ingesting meds I have no idea what the effect is. It's just tough. Any input is appreciated, because I really don't know what to do.

Did it not stabalize loss within the first 16 months? If not.. sack it. Just remember that your hair is likely to suffer now if you make that choice, if you think you could get away with it shaved I would definately advise that personally.

My crown was fine 16 months ago, and it is starting to show signs of thinning. It must mean the proscar at best slowed down the hairloss, but it has only been such a short time. I am going to do more research on dutasteride and give that a try.

Well, for about 17% of all people finasteride doesnt stop hairloss. You seem to be one of the unlucky ones. dutasteride is your next step. Dont worry about health issues too much.
