So for more than a year i've been concerned with hair loss. I'm 19 years old. My father is not bald, but my brother is 4 years older and he is balding already, not receeding hairline but diffuse thinner..There is my old thread with some pictures ( wish i made some front ones )

Here are some photos how i look now.

I went to my derm. They took my blood sample and some fungus test or something like that. Everything is fine she just advised to take some strange shampo and vitamins and said that MAYBE they will help lol. You can see that my scalp is quite white ( no inflamation) but it itches everyday and i have also to wash my hair everyday as hair gets itchy and oily in a day. Even after washing itch is not gone....

Should i just jump on finasteride? or can i wait somehow? If my hair stayed like this i would be very happy... But just don't want to jump on finasteride early as i'm still quite young and brain develops up until 22years... I'm also studying software engineering so i'm afraid of brain fog sides... I was also thinking, what about ru or something? I have some spare money i could use on my hair supplements and having my hair would just make me more happy...

You have similar hair to me man, I'm 16. I started finasteride, you can start at a low dose if you're afraid of sides but waiting would just make you regret not starting earlier, you can stop if the side effects show up too. All the best

One thing I am planning on doing (since I'll be returning to finasteride anytime soon), is to change some things in my diet, to include some foods and supplements known to have anti-estrogen effects. I think that might help fight any estrogen-related issues..

Even though, in my ~15 years of finasteride, I never noticed anything..

Zinc Orotate 2x Day

Broccoli
Red Wine over Beer
Parsley
Cauliflower
Cabbage
Oysters (naturally occurring Zinc)
White Button Mushrooms
Olive Oil

Regular exercises also help lowering estrogen (https://www.fredhutch.org/en/news/center-news/2004/05/excercise.html)

You are where I was at about a year or two ago. Started finasteride a couple weeks ago, I was kicking myself for not starting earlier.

Although as of a couple days ago I feel I might be getting sides so it might not even matter....good luck to ya

I'm taking 15mg zinc a day and i'm also taking Kickboxing classes 2 and sometimes 3 times a week.. Really happy that it helps. Have you noticed any brain fog in your time? What is your job by the way?

I'm delaying taking finasteride myself for 2 years now successfully. Using minoxidil and topical dht inhibitors.

Thanks. I did the same for a year. Regretting it now because I lost a lot in that time. I was under a lot of stress too so hoping it will come back on finasteride. I spoke with 4 doctors who all assured me it was fine. They basically just said just stop if you get any sides.

I had no sides until a few days ago. I thought I was getting gyno but starting to think it was in my head now, so staying the course and monitoring. If I am certain I am getting gyro I will quit for sure. Today I woke up with ball ache which sucks but is also very common and should go away.

My advice if you do take it : get some blood work done before hand, then take it and forgot about sides or PFS or any of that **** or you will drive yourself nuts. Just take it, if you get hit with sides, stop.

my 2 cents

My current plan is to get back to it and do an annual checkup (blood panel, hormones) and check for gyno, etc etc.. then forget about it til next year...
