Should I Go For Full Cap Or Topper Could Be Pulled Off?

Hi Abra

A topper will work fine for you. Your side hair is thin, but you don't need much, and it is more about the location than the density. Yours starts quite far forward. The problem starts when that front edge creeps back, and then the hairpiece above starts to look unbalanced.

If I were you I would keep the almost-shaved look on the sides and add a topper - fuller than your current hair, but not too dense, and go for a version of the undercut style, which is highly fashionable at the minute. I think it should look terrific.

Best of luck

Thanks a lot @Noah for prompt reply. You truly read the face well as I always had the same cut that you advised.
Trimmed side and hairstyle without any parting. But would that be a problem with hairsystem? As this would require me to have exposed hairline probably. (sort of like in my pic).
Also climate in my city is hottest and most humid than anywhere in world. You take bath and before you could dry your body by towel you will start sweating(srs). What kind of problems would I face and how to go about it?

One interesting thing : I visited a hairsystem saloon few days back and I got to understand what you always say that paranoia of being detected is in wearer's head. For demo they attached some systems on my head by clip, I saw myself in mirror and was like No its detectable. Than I went to room where existing customers were waiting for their redo process. All of them were flawless. I was more impressed with deglam look. I mean some of them had hair that though looked undetectable but stil were toooo good to see. But guys with deglam looks had hair that 80% of people have. Not models type but normal guys. So saloon guys said "Do they look fake?" They all thought that they too looked fake. Everyone started smiling and asked me to go for it.
I hope those were not inside guys to trap customer as this saloon guy does not deal in custom pieces and hardly prescribe lace wig to anyone saying it start creating problems within 4,5 days and too difficult for DIY.

Hi Abra

A hairstyle with no parting is not a problem.

Looking at your photos it seems like you currently have slicked-back hair with a very fully exposed hairline. That is do-able with a hairpiece, but it is a high maintenance style. You have to make a good job of applying the piece, and any lifts in the lace would be rather noticeable. Getting the hairline right is one of the techniques that some people struggle with at the start. So you will make your life easier if you go for a style which doesn't involve a slicked back fully-exposed hairline, at least at the start. For example, I brush my front hair forward and then flip it up with a bit of gel. That works well, and I think it could fit in with the style you are aiming for.

Because of the heat and humidity where you live, I would strongly advise you to opt for a lace base, and not a skin base. I find normal sweating is not usually a problem even in humid places like Sri Lanka - the adhesives are strong enough to withstand a lot of sweating and still remain solid, and the sweat itself just runs through the mesh of the base and evaporates. But if you find it a problem there are a few possible solutions, including using a medical grade antiperspirant under the adhesive area, or applying a scalp protector - a liquid you brush on your scalp which dries to form an invisible barrier between your skin and the tape or glue.

Your encounter at the salon was interesting. It is hard to believe their profit margins are high enough to justify keeping a whole room full of bald guys just to fool potential customers. Are you thinking of using this salon for your first unit?

Salons will be more helpful than a saloon (unless it goes badly), but DIY is even better than both
