since it doesnt seem to help regrow lost hair or stop losing it at the same very slow rate
i've been losing it for the last 15 years (i'm 39 now)

Thanks

P.S. 1mg finasteride/day + once a day Rogaine spray.

Do you have any before pics mate? Chances are that any gains or slowing down you've had will be lost, especially from the minoxidil.

It's impossible for us to say though. finasteride working can be the slowing down, but then again, if you're receding slowly it may not be noticeable one way or the other. Chances are that where you've applied minoxidil, the hair have become dependent on it, and you will lose them.

If you have been using them for 1 year, then I would say give it one more year. You never know you may start seeing benefits soon. If you quit now, you would lose the effort for doing this for a year, and then "if" part where you might think it would have worked in 18-24 months if you continued the effort.

Also, can you clarify to us that what signs you saw 15 years ago and that this is all you have receded in 15 years and without any treatments? If thats the case, you are lucky that you have really slow progression. Regardless, you still look fine with the recession

15 yrs ago my hairline and hair thickness were perfect. then there were no clear signs, just slow receding at the corners and decrease in overall thickness. i'm just concerned that at this (even slow) rate it will look a lot worse in 8-10 years, thats why i started the meds.

Look if you haven't seen much difference then you can drop the minoxidil (which is a pain to apply), but what harm is taking finasteride going to do? It's cheap and easy to take.
