Short term Finasteride use and quitting cold turkey.

So I've been on Finasteride (dosing between 0.625mg to 1.25mg every 2/3 days. Today is exactly 1 month I started and I took my last dose on Wednesday.

I toyed with doses and days to see if I could find anything that would alleviate sides. (Having weaker and weaker erections, don't like it as I'm proud of my penis) so I think I might stop.

My question is can I go cold turkey if it's only been one month? I'm not a long term user so do you think my body has become "dependent" on it by now?

Should I taper off or am I safe to probably just stop?

Part of me things about coming off, letting my body rest and reset and then trying 0.25mg twice a week. My hair loss stopped pretty fast so I don't think I need a lot..

It's sad because I pretty much stopped losing hair after 3 weeks but my weak erections are unsettling.

Your timeline is almost the exact same as mine. I quit cold turkey, and it's taken me about 2-3 weeks to feel back to "normal" (aside from the fact, it really did diminish hair loss, went back to ~40-50 hairs / shower from ~10 while only 5 weeks on finasteride). I tried minoxidil since last November first, and am still on it, but honestly feel like it just makes hair fall out faster.

I'm not yet done trying though.

I suggest you find a dosage that you're comfortable with. Even if it means micro dosing and taking a full dose once or twice a week. You're better off looking for a sweet spot on finasteride than trying to fight hair loss without it. I needed small doses due to sides for a while now I take 1mg 4x a week and I feel fine on it. Just some advice cause **** gets bad when you realize finasteride can't help.

I was on Minoxidil 5% for about a month but then I started getting heart palpitations, shortness of breath and savage dark circles under my eyes so I stopped..

Considering using it again but maybe only 1x a day and less amounts..

Well I read about a guy who used 0.25mg twice a week successfully and I'm guessing I could try that.

I have generic 5mg tablets I cut up though so cutting that in .25mg is impossible. Maybe I will get branded Propecia 1mg and try that? I had heard some people get less sides aswell but could be a placebo because it's a known "brand"..

Also you said it too you about 2/3 weeks to feel normal again. What sides were you having and did they completely alleviate? I'm just looking to get my strong, solid boners back. I can deal with watery semen no problems.

Norman did you continue taking finasteride? Have your side affects gone away?
