Shedding On The BIG 3!

Hi all...

I began loosing my hair at 23. I am now 25. I am a NW2 and I began using Propecia in September 2004. Then in October 2004 I added Rogaine (Minoxidil). On top of that I use Nizoral 2-3 times per week.

After around 4 months (January 2005) I noticed my crown filling in slowly. Now it is just perfect. Fantastic. However, In June 2005 I switched from Propecia to Finpecia. I also switched from greasy Rogaine to Recrea, a 5% Minoxidil sold in Scandinavian Pharmacies.

The Minoxidil is legitimate. Scandinavia are very thorough with their products sold in Pharmacies.

The Finpecia is from http://www.unitedpharmacies.com

This product is legitimate too. Other posters have stated that they have also purchased their and have had no problems with delivery, packaging quality and results...

So, my problem...

My hair on the frontal region is slowly receeding. The hair is slowly thinning in the top frontal region too. Hairs lost in shower are around the 50-75 mark. Hairs are thinner towards the root.

My initial response to the BIG 3 was brilliant. But since February/March of 2005 (5-6 months after starting this whole fight for male pattern baldness) the thinning is very very slow but I notice a small deteriation per month. The receding is slow too.

What shall I do? Did the Minoxidil spoil it all? I have heard comments on this forum about minoxidil ruining their results. Should I try Spirocream? What is good for Mid frontal regaine of hair?

I hope someone can answer this question...

Thanks...

Hairs are thinner towards the root> this is normal when a follicle is shutting down for telogen phase. Pigment production stops sometimes too a bit before the shaft is ejected.

I have not used your regimen, but the fact that you are slowly receeding might be just your male pattern baldness getting agressive or you are just going through a shedding period which is normal and could lead to regrowth.

I have recently made the decision that Minoxidil fully wrecked my temples... i swear they werent this bad 2-3 months ago, and the skin in that area now has a wrinkly effect. Before this Minoxidil crap, i was not too concerned with my temples... moreso the frontal area... now i have concerns about both... thanks to minoxidil in my opinion. I certainly wish i never started on it... now i apply it only to the VERY front of my hairline but im thinking of giving it the arse all together... f*** i hate it!

Something to help the hairline

Yeps... my temples have got worse! I need something to stop the receeding. After 4-5 months of Propecia usage I was impressed. This included 3 months of Minoxidil. But as I stated earlier... After those first 6 months it has slowly deteriorated...

Maybe I can too blame minoxidil? No idea. It's just that many people have given it minus points. It has made my hair dry and feel brittle.

I have read about people using Azealic acid in minoxidil? Is this better or worse than original plain 5% stuff? What about the Spirocream? Is that good for the temples and hairline?

I hope that I can once again get a control on the hairloss... As I have had a good response in the initial 6 months... I almost forgot about hairloss... but now the thoughts are back in my head!

Hope to hear a response!

Thanks...

A very good friend of mine was having awesome success with Rogaine for about a year. But then his blood preasure went through the ceiling and he needed to get off of it. The doctor, after evaluating him, stated that it was the Rogaine that had upped his blood preasure. To be sure he had actually regrown hair while on Rogaine but he's been off of it now for a while and his blood preasure is still being affected by it:(

I doubt that the rogaine raised his blood pressure... It's active ingredient is minoxidil, which is a vasodilator used to TREAT high blood pressure. He might consider getting a second opinion and resuming the rogaine. The fact that his blood pressure remains high after getting off rogaine supports the idea that his blood pressure is due to something other than rogaine.

Finglish I'd add a topical Anti-androgen to your regimen.

I was in the same boat as you in have a slowly receeding hairline while on finasteride. I was like 'whats the deal here I'm on finasteride', but sometimes finasteride's not strong enough on its own, especially at the hairline, when you've got aggressive male pattern baldness like I've got.

I'm using fluridil with finasteride and I've stopped my receeding dead in its tracks. Its quite expensive but if you just applying it to the hairline you can make it last twice as long.

Regards and good luck,
Warren.

Indeed.
