Shedding from Propecia sign of need?

I started taking Propecia about a month ago, stopped for a week, and went back on three days ago.

I have noticed significant shedding. I understand this is not that uncommon.

When I went I went on Propecia I was 70% sure I was thinning. Now the thinning/balding is very clear. I understand that the shedding knocks out follicles in the telogen stage. My question is, if I am shedding only in the vertex of my head, is this an unequivocal sign that I was in fact balding? Or could someone with a healthy head of hair still experience significant shedding?
