Looking to see if anyone has what I have going on currently. I used minoxidil for 3 years up until December 2014 and used finasteride for 2 years until around July 2015. At the one year mark on finasteride I got crazy scalp pain on the left hairline and started shedding 300+ hairs a day. Scalp was so irritated, burning, itchy and all that so I finally quit minoxidil (liquid). Kept on finasteride and the scalp still hurt. I came to the conclusion that my dentist could have possibly damaged a nerve after a root canal and it could have triggered shingles.

Anyway, I've now been on dutasteride and Setipiprant.. dutasteride for 4months and seti for almost 2 months. However, my scalp still hurts in areas and I'm shedding around 120 hairs just showering and drying off and they are mixed lengths and some are tapered. I'm not sure if post minoxidil Telogen Effluvium can last longer than a year... Or if I just don't respond to anything which is crazy lol.

The problem is, almost all my shed hairs have yellow build up covering the root and sometimes sebum balls on the hairs shafts. This has been going on since November 2014! Doctors say "some people get that" lol which means " I have no idea what you are talking about or what you are showing me"..

So, anyone know what's up or go through this?

Honestly man, My advice to you would be to just shave your head and see if theres anything wrong with your scalp it may seem intimidating at first but it is probably worth it.

Secondly I also started loosing hair just after my wisdom teeth got extracted, Not sure if its just a coincidence or if my body didn't react well to the sedatives and painkillers they put me on afterwards

Yeah, I'm waiting another month and then going to Rahal for a consult and transplant hopefully so I'm gonna wait til they just shave me down. Had my scalp looked at though and it's 100% clear supposedly. I do get itchy bumps on the back of my scalp and behind my ears though so who knows.. Your hairloss around the time of your dental work could have very well been from pain killers man. However, if you had scalp pain, I'd say it's 100% from it. My pain was unmistakably nerve related. Felt like a singing searing burning pain in one area and was all along the trigeminal nerve.

NOOO, that looks like seborrheic dermatitis or some a lot of keratin build up. Is that from your scalp?

Mine are covering the root bulb. It's like my sebum glands are just filling up with sebum. Shouldn't be though because I use dutasteride and take around 600mg SETI a day. Also, I use nizoral and tar shampoo from time to time lol. At a loss anymore with hairloss

I had no pain on my scalp, just alot of tingling around the areas I was loosing my hair but surprising fact is. I shaved just to clear up the confusion, I had been growing my hair for the past few years I had pretty long hair (Below shoulder length) and I always had terrible dandruff, When I went to get my scalp shaved the first thing my hairdresser said is to go see a doctor because I had terrible rashes all over, but they've since cleared up and never really went to the doctor simply because I can't afford one right now, I'm in a really terrible spot financially

But after shaving my head 3 weeks later I really started to see some crazy thinning on the crown and my left temple was receding more than my right, I always had a very high hairline and a mature hairline from a very early age but I never thought that i'll be suffering through this.

Any how try to go see a hair specialist but if you really are shedding 300+~ hairs a day just shave it off and try to grow out a buzzcut, Hairloss that is reversible can take awhile for it self to fix.
