shaving head makes hair loss more obvious?

this might be a stupid question but when you get a buzz cut (#1 grade), does that generally make ur hair loss more obvious or less obvious?

It depends. If you're receding, more. If you're thinning, less.

ok thx. i guess in my case its hard to tell then because im both receding and thinning. i think another problem is im losing hair in the temples so that part looks worse when the head is shaved.

but actually wait for those of you who follow wrestling, the rock had a receding hairline. i always thought that was the reason why he looked so much better with a shaved head.

The Rock had a receding hairline untill he started getting better roles in movies and got a hair transplant.Anyways shaving your head is good if you have thin hair naturally all over, otherwise it can become quite obvious that your bald if you have a five oclock shadow hairline like I do, oh my god the shame! lol

Yeah I am pretty certain that The Rock had a Hair Transplant done,his hair went from receeded to a full hairline rather quickly.

Well with me i am losing it from the front and back. When i get my hair cut my crown looks normal but my hairline looks like its obviously receding. Now when i grow it long my hairline doesnt look like its obviously receding but my crown looks a little thin. I cant win.

yeah i feel like i look terrible either way. when i grow it longer the hairline and the temples are good but then everywhere else looks bad. when i buzz it, the hairline and the temples look bad.

the last time i got a buzz cut, the girl at the counter of the hairdresser was trying to control her laughter. i even had a couple of friends laugh when he saw me first with a buzz cut. but afterwards i asked him and he said the buzz cut looks good.

It makes my hair loss much much more obvious but it also makes my hair look better. Just because it shows you're balding doesn't mean its a bad thing. I don't think most guys realize how obvious their hair loss is and how ridiculous they look trying to hide it be it from a hat or a terrible hair style.

I suppose you could grow your hair long enough to cover the recession and use a topik (hair concealer) to cover those thin areas, but then you better hope it doesnt rain. I grow my hair about an inch long and thats enough to make my hairline not too noticeable and the crown look close to non balding. I just dread getting hair cuts.

It makes your hair loss less obvious in my experience. I have a clear receding hairline with thinning at the temples. Some people don't even notice it. They just think that's what shaved heads look like (I have a grade 1). Quite a few people ask me, 'why don't you grow your hair?' and they are serious. They don't seem to realise I'd look like Jack Nicholson/Nicholas Cage if I grew it out. However, there are of course some people who do notice. E.g. someone said I should go to a fancy dress party as the Penguin (from Batman) because of my hairline.

Yup...I bought the nicest pair of clippers I could find (which were only $40 surprisingly) and I cut it every weekend. Always looks nice & clean and takes me 10 minutes total.

If you are nw5 like me then no amount of buzzing or shaving will fool anybody as the shadow always tells. It really is a no win situation, which is why I wear a hat whenever I go out.
