Shaved head, growing back thin and see through

Hi Guys,

So I had previously shaved my hair for the last 2 yrs or so and I finally decided to re-grow it. My hair is growing back at the expected rate, but it appears very thin i.e. you can *clearly* see my scalp in daylight.

Most of hair is about 2-3cm long right now, but I also seem to have a lot of really short strands of hair (maybe a few mm long) growing in between my longer stands. I wonder if my hair appears really thin because this shorter hair is growing a lot slower than the longer parts.

My question is: Will my short hairs actually grow in or just stay really short, making my hair see through? Also, at this length should I really be able to see if my hair will remain so thin or should I keep growing it to see if things get any better?

Basically, I'm trying to work out whether I would be better off just shaving it all off again or persevere trying to grow in my hair?

Thanks, Chris.

Oh, one other question. If I did shave my hair again and then could I take the hair growth meds mentioned by others here and keep shaving for a few months for the drugs to take effect then re-grow?

I've been trying to get to the bottom of the same question.

I've been shaving my head for a while now, and it seems to make things worse the shorter I go.

I'm wondering if the meds (mainly minoxidil) has less of an effect on hair that's buzzed off completely.

Have you before/after photos?

Personally I think that repetitive short crop of scalp hair could be problematic, more if the person initially have minor density and thin hair.
Did you have problems with sebum?

What do you mean by "could be problematic". Is the repetitive shaving likely to have done some lasting damage to my hair?

My hair was previously thinish but not see through. Though I did have a lot of hair before so not sure if it's just because it's so short now.

Has anyone else here regrown shaved hair to find it initially growing back thinner, then thicken. Or is this my lot?

My hair is also see through an I am only 18... it is really stressful :(

The problem is, even if I have just washed it it appears see through... It has became more noticable after having my haircut by someone who doesn't usually cut my hair.
