I'm not sure if any similar system has already been seen, but this video was just posted by (yes, u guessed it) LaVivid revealing a self-adhering system, for daywear only. No glues, tapes, and hypoallergenic.

I'm sure there will be issues with it that people don't enjoy, but I thought it was encouraging to see a first step in the direction of eliminating the need for adhesives and messy clean-ups. I think this sort of thing, together with someone inventing a synthetic hair that performs as well or better than human hair AND looks as realistic, will help to really evolve systems, accessibility and the manufacturing.

It's an interesting idea, but daily wear only? Until they can come up with something that like that which I can wear for at least 2 weeks at a time, then I'll stick with tape! Also, I prefer lace bases as they're breathable.

This is by no means "new" or "revolutionary". And from what I have heard... it does not stick very well, and lots of issues with hairline coming up, etc.

Oh, that's disappointing to hear.

The blurb under the video says 'A newly developed technique hair system at LaVivid Hair. This product will be available soon.' So perhaps this version will have subtle differences. Maybe it will be better for styles with hairlines that aren't exposed. I'll be interested to see some real-life reviews when they start coming on YouTube anyway.

From watching the video, it seems to be a system as a last resort for people who are allergic to tape or glue. But I think most hair system wearers would be better off with normal hair systems and tape/glue.

Just look at the vid when they pull just (!) the system up with the finger. It falls down after a couple of seconds. The bond must be very weak.
If you put some silicone glue on the system and pull it up with your finger, you must have some perseverance because I don´t think it will come down after days.

I actually think the future of hair restoration could well be in the form of a system like model that has hairs placed on a biological membrane - something that actually attaches itself to the head like a skin graft.

This is likely to happen well after the nuclear fallout has cleared and society has been fully rebuilt...

You’re probably quite right! This is a lucrative industry that is growing exponentially. I can’t see traditional lace glue and tape being an ongoing solution. It’s undignified (in my opinion). But necessity is the mother of invention and new materials, adhesives, hair and ways to wear that folk have yet to dream up will surely pop up as more research and interest develops in the world of rugs. I truly think that baldness will be more or less socially unacceptable in a relatively short space of time; people are living more and more of their lives through images and video and selfies, becoming more critical of self and of the ageing process, and perhaps more vain! I think folk will look back at videos of people with bald patches as an absurd curiosity of an antiquarian age. Rather like teeth before orthodontics.

Yeah this just seems like a gimmick. “Self-adhering” you have to ask, how? Are they just putting strong adhesive onto the base? Daily wear only? Probably because the adhesive isnt that great and will eventually wear off. Pass. Lavivid may make a good product (assuming, never used them) but they really seem shady with stuff like this.
