Hey guys, I'm 21 yrs old. Ive been experiencing hair loss for at least over a year now. Im sure some of you guys had the same experience. At first, I thought it was stress, lack of sleep, poor diet, or it'll stop eventually. However, I tried to stabilize all of those and it didn't work.. lol

Anyways, it has got to the point where Im thinking about this everyday (idk if this is normal), and where Im checking out for hair loss when Im taking a shower or looking in the mirror or something. Its pretty annoying..

I want to start some sort of treatment. So far I only know of rogaine and propecia. Can you guys pleaaseee give some insight on these 2 drugs. I have a couple of specific questions:

i) should they be taken together or separately
ii) do they cause more hair shedding
iii) how long does it take on average before regrowth/hair loss occurs
iv) do you guys have any serious side effects (especially with propecia)
v) is it worth it..

Anyways, thank you guys in advance for your time and patience while reading my rant. I'm just really new to all of this.

I would suggest starting with finasteride, then adding Rogaine after a year or so. Reason being that you want to see WHAT is working.

This is different for everyone, however, many people do shed when they start treatment. Personally, I did, and it freaked me out to the point of almost stopping. I'm glad I stuck it out.

Again, different for everyone. Some people see an effect after a few months, some take a year. Just remember that even slowing your loss is considered a success. I'm still losing hair, but at about 3% the rate I was before starting finasteride.

I do not, and neither do most men that take it. HOWEVER, by reading forums (including this one) you will come to believe that 99% of people who take finasteride experience side effects. This is not true. Many people come to forums for the express purpose of dealing with their side effects, whereas the people with no sides have no reason to come here. I was on finasteride for almost 3 years before I made 1 post about it...but you can bet your *** I would have been posting about it and trying to fix it within a day had I gotten sides.

Again, it depends on the person. For me personally? I would say it's the best decision I've ever made. Every.single.one of the males in my extended family were no better than NW3 by the time they were 25. I'll be 28 in 4 hours, and most people can't even tell that I'm losing hair.
