i get really bad seborrhea (i think that's what it is)...i get chunks of skin left in my hair after i shower. I also have diffused thinning. Is there a link?

Quite possibly. male pattern baldness causes irritation. This may contribute to poor scalp condition. Poor scalp condition definitly contributes to male pattern baldness.
Use Nizoral Shampoo once every 3 days. Also try Head and Shoulders and T-Gel shampoos. I also highly reccomend Hair Therapy Scalp Calming Conditioner or their Green Tea Conditioner. Theres plenty of other things you can do for your scalp health as well (Folligen, Grape Seed Extract, Emu Oil or Aloe, Lasercomb, etc). Also shorter hair helps keeps the scalp ventilated which helps (I have found that nothing improves scalp condition quite so quickly as shaving my head).
