Well from what I've read up on, anything that takes the itch away such as folligen helps. Although I don't use folligen myself, but i've read on here from a lot of people that use it, it helps relieve their itch.

Personally I think it's just part of minoxidil that your gonna get an itchy scalp. All you can do is pretty much contain it, so your not scratching your head every single minute of the day. When I first srated minoxidil, my scalp itched like crazy, but after a while it has gotten less itchy over the months. Now it barely ever itches(but it still does itch time to time.) So it just might take your scalp a little getting used to the treatments, just hang in there. And I don't think it's too good to scratch it very hard and often, so try to limit your scratching if you can, and when you do scratch do it soft. (I'm not saying to not scratch it at all, that's pretty hard to do if your scalp itches a lot)

KrazyK,

Do you have a time frame for when the itch started going away? I've heard others say that after awhile the itching will go away also. I've been on 5% minoxidil for a little over 2 months now, when i first started there wasn't any itching but i got flakes. Eventually the flakes went away but now I'm getting some itching. It's not all the time, but definitely from time to time. I use both nizoral and tgel 2 times a week so i'm not sure if thats doing anything.

It's good to hear you say it will eventually go away though, do you know when it did for you? And if you are having to itch your scalp, can that affect the results of the minoxidil?

Art,

I still get itchyness like I said before... I've been on minoxidil since December 2003, I would say the itching got dramatically less by month 3-4. I'll say it again, it still itches, just not to the point it did before. I don't use nizoral or T-gel, cuz I feel like it makes my hair feel like crap,(dry to oily, never in between) But there's a lot of people on this board that say, either of those products work great for them.

I don't think scratching it is gonna really effect the results of the minoxidil. It's ok to scratch your scalp(if it itches, sh*t you gotta scratch it.) It's all in the sake of keeping your scalp less irritated, cuz if you do scratch hard and do it persistently, the skin breaks up, and that doesn't help. Just don't go buck wild stratching your scalp is all i'm saying. If you need to scratch it, scratch it soft and try not to dig your nails into your scalp either when you scratch.
