scalp psoriasis

does anyone on this forum suffer from this condition?

the only thing worse then losing hair is having a double problem over top of it. my hair is very scaley and think clusters had formed on the top of my head. it started to cause a bald spot forming at the back of my head (vortex?) anyways i've been treating the problem for about a month and the psorias has gotten a lot better (but still there). now that i've tamed that problem at least a little bit its time to get on top of the hair loss b4 hopefully its to late.

my derm told me that its impossible for the hair i've lost to regrow. is his 2minute opinion of seeing me true, or is there still hope i can do something about it?

i don't know what type of hair loss i'd be considered as, as i have a full head of hair at the front with no receding hair line, but an increasingly large bald spot (still able to keep it hidden, but its at the point where its going to eventually be seen) any suggestions? thanks

First of all, we are with you. You're not alone!! We will try to help you as much as we can with advices and support.

I don't suffer from psoriasis myself but I do from hairloss. I want to know some details about your psoriasis in order to advise you about your possible treatment. BTW you didn't write whether you had used anything for hairloss before. I assume you hadn't.

Is this psoriasis new or you've had it for a long time?? Is it real psoriasis or some sort of saborea??

First of all, if you haven't used anything for your hairloss I suggest that you start propecia. it's an internal treatment that won't irritate your scalp. As for scalp irritation and inflammation, it depends on your condition. There are many level and severity of psoriasis. I know people who have it but it "goes to sleep" and stays quiet for long periods of time and it lets them apply topicals. I would, however avoid topicals based on alchohol. Maybe the best topical for you is revivogen (though I personally not a big advocate of because I think it's not potent enough)
Also, there are some minoxidil products that don't consist of alcohol or at leat much much less than the plain ones. You can find one at http://www.lipoxidil.com (minoxidil gel or minoxidil sensitive)

As for the treatment of your psoriasis please tell me what your doctor perscribed you. You can also gain A LOT from applying Aloe vera gel (look for almost pure gels..like 97.5% NOT the green tinted ones) Aloe vera is proven to improve sporiasis (and WORTHLESS for burns or sunburs). Not many know about it!

Also consider to use Inflamil from http://www.lipoxidil.com It makes wonders for irritated scalp and other inflammations.

the derm said it was psoriasis, but its a much milder case then compared to what i've seen from photos on the net. its isolated only on the scalp and i've suffered from it for 3-4years. stupidly not seriously doing anything about it until seeing a bald spot form.

i'm using a shampoo called 'clobex' to combat the problem, its been working, unfortunately a side effect of it is possible hair loss, so thats the shits...and i have noticed more hairloss since i've started, but i hear that any hair you lose in the process usually grow back after stopping treatment, so i was willing to go on with it to at least correct the psoriasis problem first since i can still hide the baldspot. (i'm getting a haircut today and a little nervous its going to show more :freaked: ) my barber has been trying his best to keep it hidden though.

i mentioned the hair loss to to the derm when i saw him a month ago for the psoriasis, but didn't insist on treating it since i knew i had to treat the psoriasis first, but when i see him in a few weeks, i definately want to get on something to at least try to fight this problem. propecia prolly what i've looked into most myself. how much does a year of that usually set one back?

Sorry to tell you this but if the psoriasis has scarred the scalp it would of damaged the follicles and there would be no chance of regrowth in that area.But luckily as you say you have a mild case so hopefully damaged wasnt caused.

I don't think this is right. My dad has fairly severe psoriasis all over his scalp yet is about a nw2.5 and he is pushing 60 y.o.

There is definitely scarring but minimal hairloss.
