About 10.5 months ago, after being on Propecia for 11 years, my hair started getting thinner and thinner and I realized that Propecia was starting to lose its's effectiveness, and I switched from Propecia to Dutas from Dr. Reddy's. I thought perhaps Dutasteride may be more effective than Propecia in stopping any further hair loss and perhaps thickening up my hair. After being on Dutas for over 10 months I decided to switch back to Finasteride because my hair had continued to thin and at a fairly significantly rate. Ten months after making that switch to Dutas, my hair is significantly thinner than it was when I first switched. This regression caused me to become paranoid about the legitimacy of the Dutasteride from Dr. Reddy's. I also found out about the insanely cheap price of generic Finasteride at Walmart and decided to switch back to Finasteride. It's now been about two weeks since switching back and my scalp has been very itchy for the last days. I have heard that an itchy scalp is a sign of increased DHT and the drugs being taken are not effective enough. Do you guys think this is a sign that switching was a bad idea and do you think I should get back on the Dutas? The Dutas from Dr. Reddy's may have been legitimate after all and it's possible that if I had stayed on the finasteride the entire time, my hair would be in even worse shape than it is now. I would love to hear anyone's opinion on this.
